Using VLANs for a 2nd Access Point with home & guest wifi

You sir are awesome. THANKS for documenting what you did. This is EXACTLY what I needed. Cut, change some IPs to match my network, Paste to the router and reboot. BAM first time success.

Changing Subnet any issues to watch out for?

I am going to be changing my LAN subnet and want to make sure I don't run into issues or lose access to the router while applying the change. Should I update the DHCP page first or the LAN IP page?

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

This is getting much closer to what I am wanting to do. Can the N66U support this same behavior? Could your provide the rest of your configuration that is treating vlan14 as internet-only as that is my goal with this configuration.

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

I am wondering if I need to move to one of those to pull this off. I only use normal router functions, DDNS and OpenVPN Server

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

That still looks like a port is configured for a single VLAN. I need the ability for a single port to have 2 VLANs.

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

I am. I would prefer to stick with the Asus if I could rather then going the security gateway route.

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

That link takes port 4 on the router and makes it part of the guest network. What I am trying to do is have a Guest SSID and a normal LAN SSID on my AP using VLAN Tagging and then have a single Ethernet connection from the router to the AP that sees the VLAN tagging and handles the traffic...

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

Is there not enough information there?

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

Can the N66U even do this or do I need to look into a managed switch to handle this?

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

I am wanting to setup VLAN tagging to use a UniFi AP with both Isolated guest access and regular LAN access using my RT-N66U currently running Merlin 380.64_2. I have seen several threads showing examples for isolating one of the switch ports but not one for just tagging. So I am turning to the...

I finally had time and took the jump of updating my RT-N66U all the way from 374.41. I used the settings restore script and so far everything is working. Thanks

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 beta 2 is now available

Are you using teamviewer? There seems to be a bug with TV that causes the machines to wake up often. EDIT - The bug fixed in the latest TV update.

SECURITY: LAN-side security hole - mitigation

This is my first firewall-start script so I am wanting to verify that it is working. Should I see something in the logs?

    N66U on Fios gone crazy

Is 5 - 10Mbps upload from LAN to WAN really enough to slow down the LAN side of this router?

    N66U on Fios gone crazy

Crisis adverted. Ended up being self inflicted. My NAS backups up to the cloud and for some reason today I am getting a great connection to them so my NAS is using all of my bandwidth. As soon as I pause the backup everything is fine.
