    Broken power button

My RT-AC66U power switch failed last year at 2 years and several months, so barely out of warranty. ASUS offered to fix it for about $5 less than amazon.com was selling new RT-AC66Us with new warranties. Bought an RT-AC68U, rationalizing because it had some more features anyway--notably AFP...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.3264

Unless you have a static IP from your ISP, you may also have gotten a new IP leased to you in the process and it could be one with some unfortunate history.

ASUS firmware will change the verification method

Maybe I'm missing something, but does the recovery rollback method to return to the "no verification" firmware have to work indefinitely? If we jump to our first "new verification method" firmware version and don't have problems with it, why would we ever need to go back further than that? I've...

    [Official] RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.1842

30043801842 was crashing several times a day. So I reverted to 30043789313.

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

Q: are Time Machine/AFS and iTunes server settings included in R22? Don't see anything that looks like them in script stdout from R21 and saw a post from February saying they weren't there at that time. Thanks for this great tool!

    AC68U TimeMachine several Qs

Just got my new AC68U more or less fully operational. Since it has TimeMachine (my AC66U didn't), I decided to make that work instead of having to remember to periodically plug the portable into the MBA. Other than it taking several reboots to get it all happy, it seems to mostly be working...

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

They also deleted more recent releases. That made me wonder if there were vulnerabilities in them or something and was how I found myself here in search of newer code.

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

It's FAT16. Guessing that's the issue--permissions not native to FAT types--not anything to do with "admin" vs some renamed "admin". Maybe I need to change it to ext2? Or not worry permission errors?

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

Point of post is to find out/understand why I'm getting the permission errors. Thought that was clear form post. "Non Admin" user means I have changed the name from default of admin to something else, like your "myadmin" so as to complicate anybody assuming it's stock ASUS for purposes of...

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

Pardon my ignorance, and I haven't messed around much in *ix in over a decade, but I'm wondering why all the permission errors when running as a non "admin" username? E.g., in the backup script output "chmod: /tmp/mnt/ASUS/backup/nvram-usr-20150918-F810.txt: Operation not permitted". from the...

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

When I ran the nvram save tool, and looked at the results, I saw lots of old cruft. (E.g., old MAC filter lists no longer enabled but still stored.) So I did this the old-fashioned way. Five minutes? LOL. Probably spent 30 minutes of almost an hour just watching "Applying settings" and logging...

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

I must have way more settings (SMB and media server users/paths/permissions, guest network, QoS, VPN, assigned IPs, assigned ranges, changed admin name, changed default IP, long randomized WiFi keys, DDNS, specified DNS servers, port forwarding, etc. ad nauseum) than you do. Parental Controls...

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

Have not. If I do, can I reload config from saved file? Only thing keeping me from doing this is the headache of getting all the settings restored.

Have observed with Chrome, Edge, and IE.

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

Observations with RT-AC66U 8186, FWIW: Network Map page, 1) click on "Clients" orb--"Client status" frame shows "Wireless (3)" (or similar) tab, but clicking on it does nothing. 2) click on "Clients" "View List" button--popup "All" button shows no clients, should be showing eleven, "By...

[BETA] RT-AC66U Beta Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_8186

I note that RT-AC66U_30043786065 has disappeared from the ASUS site and not been replaced. Are they trying to tell us something about 6065? The most current firmware on their site today is 3.0.0.4.378.4850, marked Beta, and over four months old. I don't think they've ever gone that long without...

    ASUS RT-AC66U 3.0.0.4.354 Official Firmware

Thanks for the post. But is it really all there is to it? Does this whack all the settings? (So I have to reload from a config backup with the router running with the default IP/password...) Does this whack the set upnp_minport etc. settings necessary for a device to port forward the well-known...

    5ghz Signal Dies

Same problem here from a Galaxy Nexus and from a Toshiba/Intel 6230 laptop. But it has been intermittent. At the moment it's working with the 6230 and not with the GNex. And it's working with wife's Nexus 4. And my late 2010 MacBook Air seems to always work with it. Very odd...
