    New RT-AC88U user - VPN troubles

    If possible give the AC88U back and buy a AC86U instead. This one has AES-IN support and you are geting 250-260 Mbit/s VPN speed with this toy. If I remember right, I was not possible to get more than 40-50 Mbit/s on VPN with the AC88U since it's processer is missing the AES Acceleration feature.

    @RMerlin, would it be possible to implement WireGuard inte Merlin firmware? As Odkrys said, it's multicore aware. Uses both cores while testing. No extra configuration is necessary.

    Well this high CPU usage was only while I have done the Speedtest with Speedtest.net. Under normal usage, the CPU is around 1-2 %. Did a couple of Speed tests in a row, before I took the screen shot. So it's not only one speed test I did once I got WireGuard running.

    Finally managed to set it up and did a speed test. You are right ... 400+ Mbps is possible. At the same time, the CPU use is about 100% on both CPU's. Wrote a short blog article about this test on my page.

    Just an update from my site. I also have those IPS events in my router. User no-ip DDNS. Using the OpenVPN client in the router to connect the "most" deviced (Policy based routing) to a few VPN provider. Changing the provider I'm connected to from time to time.

    Are you releasing a new update for the AC86U (384.5 - alfa 3) ? See you have done a lot of changes recently. Also the 384.20648 was released for the AC86U a few days ago. But this is maybe the same change as you already commited with "Merged with GPL 384_20648 + binary blobs for RT-AC68U"?

    Asus 86U - single SSID

    Just give both networks the same SSID name and password. The clients will then only see this "one" SSID from your router and will select the network to use automatically.

    Smart Connect - Fine Tuning

    I just decided to keep the Smart Connect feature switched off, and just using the regular settings. Having by default named both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz band with the same SSID-name. By this, the clients are using automatically which band to connect to.
