    RT-AX88U with RT-AC55U as AP

The router firmware has the ability to control power levels, turn on/off individual bands, etc. Not sure if any of that functionality is still available when used as an AiMesh node. Right now, I don't see a way to turn off the 2.4GHz band on the RP-AC55 in AiMesh mode but leave it on in the...

    RT-AX88U with RT-AC55U as AP

So does repurposing a more expensive router as an AiMesh node provide no advantage over repurposing the US$60 RP-AC55 (Repeater) as an AiMesh node? Sent using Tapatalk

AiMesh node and MAC address of connecting devices

I just tested, and the AiMesh node (RP-AC55) does not alter the MAC addresses of the connecting devices. I guess the question now is: Do all Range Extenders alter the MAC address of connecting devices, or is TP-Link RE220 the only one doing that? Sent using Tapatalk

    RT-AX88U with RT-AC55U as AP

Maybe unrelated but how is an AP different from a Repeater if the Repeater on AiMesh enabled firmware can now use an ethernet connection backhaul to the router (instead of the usual WiFi connection back to the router)? Sent using Tapatalk

    RT-AX88U with RT-AC55U as AP

The RP-AC55 had no AiMesh capability until a recent firmware update, so maybe the RT-AC55U might get an update too? Or maybe Asus just wants people to buy newer hardware... Sent using Tapatalk

    RT-AX88U with RT-AC55U as AP

Can the RT-AC55U function as an AiMesh node for the RT-AX88U router, like the RP-AC55 can? Sent using Tapatalk

Asus RP-AC55 is driving me nuts!

Got an RP-AC55 today to use as an AiMesh node with my RT-AC88U router. RP-AC55 firmware on 1/4/2020: Device arrived pre-installed with v3.0.0.4.384_81156 Latest on Asus website is still the older v3.0.0.4.384.80710 (I believe that's the minimum firmware version for AiMesh use) Good thing I...

RT-AX88U aismeh and assigned IP problem

See https://www.snbforums.com/threads/aimesh-node-and-mac-address-of-connecting-devices.60991/ Could it be possible that the MAC address of a device connecting via the mesh node is being altered slightly? That would make the router think it's a new device and assign it a new IP address. Sent...

AiMesh node and MAC address of connecting devices

Would an AiMesh node (RP-AC55) retain the original MAC addresses of the connecting devices? (I bought a TP-Link Range Extender (1/3 the price) and it changes the MAC addresses of connecting devices, leading the Asus RT-AC88U router to think they are new devices and assigns them new IP addresses...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

Companies need to provide PCs that can take a beating because of all the security stuff (McAfee, Symantec, Tanium, FireEye, ... etc) the IT departments run on them, reduce other application performance, and burn them out prematurely. Compare disk i/o and cpu usage between a standard Windows...

Looking for two Lap tops, Can I get some help choosing which.

If you want full control over where a Windows app gets installed (including on USB drives), look for the equivalent app (the major/common ones are available) on portableapps.com Sent using Tapatalk

It's time to move to Netgear?

Depending on where the vents are, you could put the router on top of a laptop cooler. Sent using Tapatalk

It's time to move to Netgear?

e.g. Asus ROG routers? Sometimes they paint their antennas red and have sleek angles on their chassis, and they fit well into (i.e. look like) the other gaming hardware components, if that matters. They might even have WTFast (aka Gamers Private Network) support in their firmware, and have...

    2 SSID on different channels?

Anyone know the make/model of such a router? Is there a significant network degradation/interference if both SSIDs were on the same 5Ghz channel and used by separate devices in the same household? Sent using Tapatalk

    Router abnormal behavior cpu

Asus RT AC88U Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.384_45717 I have AIProtection, Traffic Analyzer, etc all turned ON. There is no "netstat" process running and hogging the CPU: (I have a little under 20 devices (wired, 2.4GHz, 5GHz) connected almost always)

    Router abnormal behavior cpu

Man, I was about to write a shell script that greps "netstat" and kills it, which runs as a cron job every minute [emoji23] (Just kidding, of course) Sent using Tapatalk

    Router abnormal behavior cpu

I use stock Asus firmware with AIProtection and all the analytics features (that latter is why I bought the Asus router) and I don't have a problem with high CPU. I'll post my netstat (on stock) for comparison with the OP's, if that will help. Sent using Tapatalk
