Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

I didn't say I'm an IT guy to shine or whatever. I mentioned it so that you know that I also know what I'm talking about. It's a home router yes. But what do you mean by that ? It's still a network equipment, running an OS and apps and... The reboot isn't normal. Nothing in the log is giving...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

I'm calm... Really calm. I'm not rushing anything. I have just bought an expensive router to replace one that is maybe, just maybe, failing me because it's getting old. I have made lengthy searches and decided to get this one, RT-AX88U Pro. It came with the stock Asus firmware. First thing I...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Before, all my connections were using the WiFi. I have only my desktop PC that's ethernet connected. I use it only on the week-end, to rip some of my BD. That's the only change that happened since I got the router.

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Out of curiosity, what tests could I try ? Like something that would push the router to its limit, and then I'll know if it's stable or not ? If there is such a test of course :)

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Ok so I did a factory reset again. And since I know a little more about its configuration, it went a little faster. So : _ I've changed the power outlet, in case. _ factory reset _ basic configuration _ QOS and Traffic Analyser are OFF Crossing fingers now...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

I think I got it with the firmware you're mentioning. So a factory reset I should try right now ? Mmmh... Room is pretty cool, 19°C. My main powers are reliable I think. I bought the UPS just to be sure to have the network if an electrical power outage would occur, leaving me time to shut...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

The firmware is : 3.0.0.6.102_21514-g9affda2_136-g5d23c Will try another outlet then, but... why just now ? Why not before ?

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

what do you mean, a good known state ? Should I factory reset it ? I didn't after I upgraded the router with the factory Asus firmware. I mean, I unboxed the router, did a factory reset (WPS + Power button) and then started to configure the router, and then updated the firmware. You think a...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

But how do I diagnose the problem ? I mean, it's a really pretty basic setup. And it was the same one I used with my R7800. The R7800 would lose the 5GHz radio randomly but only that radio. It wouldn't reboot. So I don't think it has something to do with my electrical outlet, right ? Will stay...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

The only thing that's different is that I'm on my desktop computer. The desktop is connected to a Netgear switch, along with some other devices. And this switch is then connected to one of the LAN port of the RT. It's been this way since I've installed the RT.

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Another reboot just as I was replying. I checked the power outlet, it's not loose at all. It's connected to an Eaton UPS 3S 550 with two other devices and they didn't reboot. Checked the log, and it's weird : Last reset cause : unknown :O

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

You do think it's because of stock firmware ? And that the Merlin firmware will help ? The alpha one ? https://sourceforge.net/projects/asuswrt-merlin/files/RT-AX88U_PRO/Beta/RT-AX88U_PRO_3004_388.4_beta3.zip ?

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

mmmh... for no reason, my RT rebooted. I wasn't doing anything on the network at all, I was cleaning the appartment. When I noticed that my WiFi electrical outlets were blinking, meaning no WiFi. And then it came back. I have checked the system log, it did reboot : I have done some research...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Hello :) I didn't want to start a war, Asus firmware vs Merlin firmware. Like I said, I used to have a R7800 (I still have it). From the start, I installed Voxel firmware and Kamoj add-on. Netgear firmwares aren't great, so the switch was obvious. Stability and performance, that's what I'm...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

So far, I like this router and the firmware. I'd prefer to wait for stable version of Merlin firmware anyway. I mean, I will install it if I have an issue with the Asus firmware. Or if someone shows me it is BETTER to use the Merlin firmware anyway :)

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

And the alpha version isn't too... alpha ? Shouldn't I wait for the stable release of the Merlin firmware ? Just a question :)

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Yes, sorry again. As I said just above, I meant to write "cellphone" and not "laptop". My bad :( WPS and Remote Access are disabled 👍 But now, if I got it all rigth, if I want to install the alpha release of Merlin, then I have to reset the router and lose all my settings, and restart the...

Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

My bad... I didn't mean I used my laptop. I wanted to say I had to use my cellphone... I have a HUGE flu and it's killing me... I didn't see I wrote laptop instead of cellphone : My laptop is already using the range 192.168.1.0/24. I thought that the address of the router would be something...
