Few questions about Asus RT-AX88U pro

Hello everyone, So I had a very good Netgear R7800. Was very happy with it, great WiFi coverage, it could handle my 28+ devices like a champ running with Mr @Voxel firmware and Mr @kamoj add-on. But lately, the 5GHz radio started to fail. So I started to look for a replacement in case it would...

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

As I said in the post just above, the 5GHz radio was configured on channel 128. So I changed it to channel 44, and since then, it's been working well. I think, it'll take me a few days to know for sure. My laptop is using the 5GHz radio. All my other devices have a much faster download though. I...

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Very true. A beast in all things. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do. Send back the Asus and plug back the R7800, but it was having some WiFi problems, so... I've got it for I don't know how many years, but it's been a long time :) Well I noticed that the 5GHz radio was using...

[FIXED]New router Asus RT-AX88u Pro and port 563 is closed ?

My bad !!! I've opened this port myself :( I totally forgot I did that, it's for my newsgroup server. Stupid fat me :O Thanx for your help though :)

[FIXED]New router Asus RT-AX88u Pro and port 563 is closed ?

But then it should be in stealth mode, right ? I have nothing that uses the 563 port anyway on my network. I used to scan my network before I changed the router, all the ports were stealth. I see it open now that I use the Asus router. So there must be a configuration somewhere...

[FIXED]New router Asus RT-AX88u Pro and port 563 is closed ?

Hello everyone, I'm the new owner of an Asus RT-AX88U Pro. It replaces a very good router, a NetGear R7800, that's having some weird WiFi problem. So I just received my Asus today. I set it up right away. Out of curiosity, I launched a port scan (grc.com) and it found that port 563, nntp, is...

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Well it was a little harder than that :( I got the router, and unboxed it. I turned off my R7800. I connected the Asus to a laptop that I had configured to use the range 192.168.1.0/24. Tried to connect to the Asus, 192.168.1.1 but I couldn't ping it. Tried 192.168.0.1 affer changing the network...

    Asus GT-AX6000 and Merlin firmware

I don't know if the router was on sale really. It's from Amazon, you know ;) I paid €300, so I don't know if I got ripped off, seems to be the price range here in France.

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Roger that 👍 Now the router will be conneted to my internet box acting as a bridge. I will have to configure the RT with a fix IP, in the same range I have with the R7800. I guess I'll find out where to do that in the menu. I will set up the 2 SSID I need on my LAN, same name and same...

    Asus GT-AX6000 and Merlin firmware

Actually, I first ordered the GT-AX6000 router, and then changed my mind and ordered the RT-AX88U Pro router. Main reason is because it's newer and then will have a longer support than the GT one. Hope I didn't make a bad choice, it's €50 more than the GT router.

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Thanx a lot for your post. I guess I'll try first the Asuswrt firmware then, from your link. Do I need to reset factory the router before I upgrade it ? Or since it's already running an Asus firmware, I don't need to ?

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

I've ordered the rt-ax88u pro from Amazon and I should receive it today. I plan to install right away the latest Merlin firmware. I want to do it the right way. I have found this tutorial : https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ax88-packet-loss.62891/#post-563326 Is this the way to go ? With an out...

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Thanx a lot for your response :) Te RT-AX88U Pro is a bit too expensive, €80 more than the GT-AX6000. Like I said, I'm looking for a stable router, with a good WiFi range. I have a 1GB/60MB internet connection. I will not use the double 2.5 port.

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

I came across this router ASUS TUF-AX6000 ? Seems it's a pretty good router, good Wifi. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/new-wifi-6-asus-models.82945/ One contributor doesn't seem to like the MediaTek Filogic 830, I would love to know why. What's your opinion ?

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

And what did you do when you got your Asus router ? Did you install the Merlin firmware right away ? Did you configure it a special way ? Is it working better in a way than the R7800 ? Or you didn't notice any special change ?

New router to replace my NetGear R7800

Hello Out of curiosity, what help did you need ? On another thread, someone wrote that if you use the same SSID name and the same password, all the connected devices would still connect to the new router without having to configure anything. So basically, I'm wondering what configuration I...

    R7800 lost 5GHz SSID :(

It's weird. I thought that because of the new MacAddress of the router, the devices wouldn't connect anymore. So if I were to change my router (that's working again so far) and get an Asus ASUS ROG GT-AX6000, and if I would use the same SSID and the same password, all my devices would connect...
