    That must be the wisest comment of all the discussion. Thanks, I truly appreciate what you wrote and the time you took to write it. On a side note, the c7 works flawlessly, it's smooth and the connection is good. I think I'll save the 150$ and return the asus for another c7.

    Yeah that's what worries me the most. But on the other hand, I am on an old firmware on my wndr3800 and I don't have any problems right now.

    I hope I'll get my 450 Mbps download with 86u as this is what I get with my 10 years old wndr3800, single core 680 mhz and like 32 mb of ram, on a 400Mbps connection.     Thanks ! I am also wondering something. I bought a tp-link archer ac2300 last week on amazon for 130$ + taxes for my father. I did not open the box yet. I am wondering if I should send it back and get another Asus for him or it doesn't really make a difference.

    That's over 500$ here, way too expensive. At that price point I'll do a pfsense computer and a tp link access point.

    I have technicolor TC4400 if I recall correctly, which is a docsis 3.1 modem to match my 400Mbps. I have a router provided too but I don't like it at all. Worst than the router I have right now. I'm not using it. I can't recall the brand. It's stored somewhere.
