    Disable WMM??

I have a Linksys EA3500. I was reading some articles on the net about people achieving higher throughput by disabling WMM in their routers. Specifically, Linksys routers. I tried disabling it, and the throughput on my ipad did go up about 10-20%. I also read an article from SmallNetBuilder...

iPad game center multiplayer games behind a router

I couldn't get the WNDR4000 working. I'm going to keep the Linksys and sell the WNDR4000 on ebay. Wish I didn't have to lose money by changing out, since technically, these routers are pretty similar. I do noticed that the EA3500 is able to keep a 300Mbps connection, where the WNDR4000...

iPad game center multiplayer games behind a router

I tried turning on SPI firewall on the linksys, which blocks wan ping. Ipad game center still works.

iPad game center multiplayer games behind a router

So, I have 2 iPads. An iPad 2 and a NEW iPad. I was trying to play a few online multiplayer games with both iPads behind my netgear wndr4000 router. I couldn't get it to work. Tried turning off SPI firewall. Tried some port forwarding. No luck. I gave up. Then I went to a friends...

Cisco ea3500 cloud connect firmware or not?

Just got a new ea3500. Is there any reason for me to install the cloud connect firmware? I don't need to manage my router remotely or from a smartphone. Is it being able to access USB connected media? Or can I get to other types of devices. Dlna stuff? Are the parent controls...

Dual Band router - Interference with 5.8Ghz Cordless Phone

yeah.. I ended up looking it up... So the higher end channels for 802.11n in the US, 149-165, correspond with 5.745Ghz-5.825Ghz. 5.8Ghz cordless phones use 5.725-5.850Ghz. So yeah.. there is overlap there. So far 149 seems to be OK with my wifi. I may end up changing to a DECT 6.0...

Dual Band router - Interference with 5.8Ghz Cordless Phone

Ok.. I tried 149 and it seems better. Hopefully, the frequency hopping that the cordless does won't be a problem but its good for now. I guess I just thought they were different frequencies since they always say 802.11 is 2.4 or 5ghz. I guess its more like 5.x Ghz.

Dual Band router - Interference with 5.8Ghz Cordless Phone

I was testing out a Netgear WNDR4000 Dual Band Wireless router today and noticed that one of our cordless phones, a Uniden 2-line 5.8Ghz Cordless, sounded really bad. I was using a 2.4Ghz Router before now, and never noticed this. So I decided to try disabling the 5Ghz Wireless on the...

Replacing a router - minimal needs except for Gigabit

Thanks..Yeah.I understand I could get a router with 100Mb connections. I really need 3 Gigabit ports for devices though. Also, I'm at 50/65 Mbit download right now and may go to 105Mbs sometime this year. I'd rather have gigabit, since the rest of my network is Gigabit. Also, I have the...

Replacing a router - minimal needs except for Gigabit

OK.. I know you guys have seen 100 of these posts a week.... Here's my story.... Trendnet TEW-633GR Router (Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11N 300Mbs router) hooked up to Comcast Cable Internet (50/10 speed - Powerboosts to 65/16). 4 VoIP SIP phone Lines (no need for QoS though). Some Gigabit...

DLNA - Does it work well on any routers?

Ok.. I'm just copying all this stuff to a drive on my HTPC, then and using WMP to stream. I leave that PC on 24/7 anyway.

DLNA - Does it work well on any routers?

So I tried a few of the newer routers to replace my old dying router. I wanted one with DLNA USB support, so that I didn't have to leave a PC on to share some picture music video. Belkin N750, has a 3000 file limit for media sharing Netgear WNDR4000 DLNA seems broken. It keeps adding and...

    Belkin N750 DB

Ok. I think I'm going to return this thing. The amount of limitations is really bugging me. 3000 file limit for sharing media No static dhcp No NAT loopback Limited port forwarding settings DDNS hard coded to dyndns with no options for other providers. I wish someone had a 3rd...

    Belkin N750 DB

Yes.. I know... everyone hates Belkin... After reading the review on here I had to try it.... I'm replacing a Trendnet TEW-633GR that intermittently would reboot on its own. Initially I didn't think I could get around the fact that this device doesn't have static DHCP reservations. You...

    Trendnet TPL-401E2K

NO AFCI... Anyway.. after a few years of trying all kinds of wireless and powerline, I finally gave in and wired Cat5e to my HTPC and another PC in my house through the basement. Took me all day but the speed is awesome. Just wish alternatives worked as well as advertised.

    Trendnet TPL-401E2K

Not sure how to tell this. My house has a single breaker box though. Neither one of the rooms has any special kind of breaker. One room is about 25 feet from the breaker box. The other is about 50 feet away from the breaker box.

    Trendnet TPL-401E2K

I've really searched and played with a lot of devices to get networking from my internet connection (upstairs) to my home theatre (downstairs). They are about 25 feet apart and separated by 2 walls and a floor. I've used Wireless-G, Powerline 85,200 and Wireless-N. My current solution in a...
