[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

I use a range of IP addresses (180 to 189) that should be routed through privoxy: firewall-start #!/bin/sh iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -m iprange --src-range 192.168.1.180-192.168.1.189 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 3128 Maybe not the most elegant way, but if you wanted to...

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

Following the link, it says "I added ulimit -s 2048 in /etc/init.d/privoxy" How exactly do I add this? Under the folder location: entware.arm/etc/ I see the folders 'init.d' and 'privoxy', but there is no folder 'privoxy' under init.d. I was hoping I could find a file with a ulimit entry that...

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

Ok, I got entware as well as the privoxy package on my ac56 installed. All seems to be working fine thus far. However , I am getting frequent error messages on my browsers "maximum number of connections reached". I tried different devices, iOS and Win7 PC, with the same error message. So I...

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

Thanks much for your help, Merlin! I may need a little bit of hand holding here.... Here is what I understand I need to do in order to 'prep' the router to proceed with ryzhov_al instructions in post 1: - I looked for an asusware folder with WinSCP in my router, but came up empty. I did a bit...

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

I have an AC56 and a AC66. Currently the AC66 is configured as router and the AC56 is AP. I wonder if I would see a noticeable performance increase, if switched the configurations, i.e. let the AC56 be the router and handle Privoxy. AC56: 800 MHz 2 cores, 256 BM RAM, 128 MB Flash AC66: 600...

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

John; Just wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing this utility with us. I upgraded my AC66 last night from 376.49 to 378.50 using your utility (r14) and it went SUPER SMOOTHly and FLAWLESSly, as far as I can tell. THANKS AGAIN!

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

The first post lists the first (3) known issues as fixed. Does this mean they are fixed in this build, or will be fixed in the next, not yet released build?

    MERLIN: RT-AC68U + ADBLOCKing...

Thanks much Collin. After some trial and error, I was able to install the Adblock Plus Filtering on my (other) AC66 router. This allows me to assign the blocking to defined IP addresses.

never mind - I got it to work. Not sure what I did differently though.

[How-to] Adblock Plus filters right on router

I cannot seem to get past this point 6. I am not clear what I need to do. I see the file called 'firewall-start'. It only contains one line: I replaced it with the entire part from what is in quotes above (and updated the IP address to the one for my device). However after rebooting the...

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

Does this mean I could use the script also to migrate settings between different hardware/firmware models, e.g. between a RT-66AC and a RT-68AC, running different f/w versions? If not, what would be the limitations?

    MERLIN: RT-AC68U + ADBLOCKing...

First off, a big thanks to wuyanxu and ColinTaylor for providing the scripts to allow noobies like me to have adblocking on their routers. I was wondering if the scripts could be tweaked so adblocking would be either limited to certain LAN IP addresses / ranges, or alternatively, certain...

RT-N66U and Asus Dynamic DNS ([myHost].asuscomm.com)

My understanding is that with no-IP one has to 'check-in' with them through their website every 30 days in order keep the account/domain alive - same as what the free dyndns service required.

RT-N66U and Asus Dynamic DNS ([myHost].asuscomm.com)

Thanks RMerlin, you are making good points. If the ASUS service is MAC based, one would also have to jump through hoops if ones changed to another ASUS router. (I have currently 2 in my set up, using one as AP. However, I also want to be able to quickly turn the AP into my router, in case...

RT-N66U and Asus Dynamic DNS ([myHost].asuscomm.com)

Hmm, RMerlin, I always took you for an 'all ASUS man' :). What if you were; would you still prefer No-IP's over ASUS's service and if so, why? Since when have you been using No-IP? TIA!
