    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

As soon as you add another mesh node, the "Enable 160 Mhz" disappears. Also, the ""Tri-Band Smart Connect (2.4GHz, 5GHz-1, 5GHz-2)" goes away and gets replaced with "Dual-Band". There doesn't appear that there's anything that can be done to enable 160 MHz, or Tri-band Smart Connect again short...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

I needed another node, so I bought another XT8. Out of the box, the firmware was 3.0.0.4.386_24926-g3b4fcd0. The 5GHz-2 "Enable 160 Mhz" checkbox was there and enabled by default. Awesome. Also I see in SmartConnect "Tri-Band Smart Connect (2.4GHz, 5GHz-1, 5GHz-2). If I upgrade to any more...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

The ASUS app is broken in that respect. It always shows dedicated wireless backhaul whether it is or isn't. And the router interface itself also says this on the System Status initial page. But if the 5GHz-2 SSID is not hidden, it's not being used as a backhaul as far as I know, and you can...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

Actually I was using the 160MHz frequency for a week or two before it disappeared. It was used on the backhaul at initial setup, and when I wired the node up for ethernet backhaul, I made the SSID visible and was using it to connect my HP Spectre x360 laptop. The wireless backhaul had an...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

Possibly, but you'd have to telnet or ssh in to the router and mess around in the command line interface. It's been reported that the region is locked in to the router and can't be changed. Since all the XT8 firmwares are on the ASUS site, when I get some time where I can bounce my WIFi up and...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

You will probably get the same answer I did after a few back and forths with a different support person every time. They just pointed me to the page that says "* The 160MHz bandwidth may be unavailable in the 5GHz band in some regions / countries due to regulatory restrictions." and stated that...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

I see you have the "Enable 160 MHz" checkbox, something I have fond memories of when I first set up my XT8. Would you mind letting me know what country/region your router is set up for? I'm not convinced that 160 MHz is restricted in Canada.

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25524

Is that an excuse for not fixing it when it should be available in your country/region? I'm in Canada and 160MHz was there when I first set up the router. Then the firmware updated and 160MHz was gone. Did the router suddenly figure out that it was in Canada and I shouldn't be able to use...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25509

Would that it were that easy. I could use 5GHZ-2 since my backhaul is ethernet. But hiding the 5GHZ-2 SSID or not, the Channel Bandwidth dropdown only shows 20, 40, 80, and 20/40/80 entries. There used to be a 160 entry in there but it has mysteriously vanished. Wireless Log also shows: HE...

    ZenWiFi XT8 new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25509

My mesh node also disconnects, starts rapidly blinking blue, and won't come back online until it is power cycled. But this happens at random, after several days, or maybe a week of operation. Using ethernet backhaul. I also used to have the 160Mhz 5G-2 frequency when it was first installed...

ZenWifi XT8 random crash of node

I assume the logs from the main router will cover what happens on the node. I'll take a look next time it happens, if it happens. I can't make sense of what's in there now, but there was a section where the date changed and then went back to the current date. The LED color meanings are not...

ZenWifi XT8 random crash of node

I have an ASUS XT8 setup with the main router in the basement and a node with wired backhaul on the second floor. Latest firmware. I have great coverage throughout the house with no problems except for one. Every few weeks or so, the second floor node will crash or reboot or something, and...

    ASUS DDNS hostname... already Registered

Here's the problem since I am in the same boat. ASUS provides no way to deregister a DDNS name registered through their routers. If your router gets assigned a new WAN IP address by your internet provider, the ASUS DDNS name you picked is still assigned to original IP address. It will be that...

How to Configure RT-N66U as Wireless Bridge without Repeater?

Interesting. I got up one morning about a month ago to find my N66U dead. The power switch had popped out overnight and wouldn't latch anymore. I jammed it shut with a toothpick.

same port forwarded to different ips - No?

That's the way port forwarding works: you can only forward a port to a single ip address on your LAN. If you're setting up web servers on two different machines on your LAN, you'll have to change the listening port for one of them, and then have that port forwarded through the router.

Built-in FTP doesnt allow connection from outside WAN

From the FAQ: Note: Do not use the port range 20:21 for an FTP server if the AiDisk service on the router has been enabled. By enabling port forwarding of 20 and 21 in 'WAN - Virtual Server / Port Forwarding' you are telling the router to forward incoming connections from the WAN on those...
