Radio engineers: Why doesn't the AX88U Pro's antenna array outperform the AX86U Pro's?

Well it says "made in". Maybe ASUS should update the sticker and packaging SKU? 😉 I don't doubt that Arcadyan moved out, but any possible low production runs? And it means what I said.. I'm saying there is likely different HW sets depending on manufacturing date or supply.. Multiple FCC...

News Gemtek Hosts Closed-Door Event at its Nan Kang Office amid Computex Taipei, Unveiling its Latest Wi-Fi 7 AI Router

Likely Mediatek. They collaborated with Axon networks to make WIFI 7 HW.. It's an Airoha 7581+ MT 4x4 *3 config. Not sure who's at fault for my ONT issues.. (Gemtek + AXON networks design) but I'm not a fan so far.. I'm convinced the firmware or backend is completely eff'd.

Radio engineers: Why doesn't the AX88U Pro's antenna array outperform the AX86U Pro's?

I never claimed region locked. I'm saying the FEM may influence overall performance per design. Theres 2-3 different layouts in the current US FCC revision. I've had 2 AX86U (non pro) models here with completely different throughput over wireless when placed in same location. When AX58U...

Radio engineers: Why doesn't the AX88U Pro's antenna array outperform the AX86U Pro's?

I meant FEM's. AX86U (non pro) for example has multiple revisions of hardware since original release. Even down to 2.5G controller changing mid cycle. ASUS as a company also tends to build routers in multiple locations. Vietnam, Taiwan, China.

Radio engineers: Why doesn't the AX88U Pro's antenna array outperform the AX86U Pro's?

I think the question being asked is wrong given there are people here that have tested the AX88U PRO and had it outperform the AX86U PRO in the specific environment tested. Not that either hold a crown, but one is out performing the other due to whatever obstacles and interference exist at the...

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

General MIMO 3x3>4x4. 6710 also piggy backs off main CPU. 6715 has its own internal processing.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

And since were on topic.. what would be causing the 5500XK to have slower throughput to external servers? I thought I had a WIFI bug, but it was general packets not passing through. I noticed later on when speed testing to servers further way... low UL throughput to anything outside of my...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

7528/29 is the GPON variant. They're marked Airoha now. 10G variant is 7580 for 6500XK. Both made by Axon.. Manufactured by Gemtek Theres a newer 7581 with RISC-V NPU and A53 @ 1.3ghz, but they've only put it in the Mediatek based WIFI7 hardware they're launching. Would prefer the 7581 to...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

To be fair, I never looked into it. Just assumed it was Broadcom revision. Seems weaker than what older and current QCA hardware is capable of regardless...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Agree on CPU part. Not sure about BCM hardware, but the previous gen QCA stuff has done 8 gig passthrough via router. 2.0-2.2ghz A53.. just referring to whatever the BCM4916 is.. "2.6ghz". LUMEN's 1.3ghz MIPS SmartNID can process 8 gbps to a faster x86 CPU, though its likely offloaded via...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Port limit is around 9.2-9.4gbps, though most ISP's have settled on 8 gig for overhead. If a 1.3ghz InterAptiv MIPS design can do 8 gig with acceleration, I'm pretty sure a 2.6ghz A53 is fine.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Yeah.. Small patch runs wont really matter unless the cable is actually terrible. I'm pretty sure the better 5E cables can do at least 25-30m @ 10G. And Yup. I saw that.. Should be a cheaper option and spec bump for the DYI PC sector in relation to next gen products. Good marketing at least ;)...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

The ones in America suck and require gateway authentication or are tied to the networks backend GUI. Specifically the case for LUMEN multigig.. There's no way you can directly plug it into to a SFP... needs copper 10G WAN. Will be same for Cable providers using D4.0 hardware.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

No, it has single 10G + SFP which can be used for a 10G SFP.... But this adds external cost. My argument was to just spend $100-200 more for something with dual 10G + SFP when there's a sale... 10G XGS-PON and 10G EPON has been gaining full popularity over the past year on the fiber end. Cable...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Because there's no way to route multi gig output to other PC's from ISP provided 10G Gateway. Built in switch is port bottlenecked to 2.5/1G. You could likely use the SFP port as a 2nd 10G, but it's pretty redundant and adds cost. One argument would be to use the SFP for a fiber module, but...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Weird design. I guess you need a switch pre router on 10G home networks. (ironic because its 8 port.. split 2.5/1G 4+4 ) Could buy a 10G Ethernet SFP.. but that kind of defeats the purpose. Would be more logical to invest into a better design or competitor offering for a little more assuming...

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

Yeah Netgear started going down the tubes with the AX generation of products. I was given a TPLINK BE800 sample. I'm not the biggest fan of their previous hardware, but this Pro 1220 platform has really good (subjective) performance and port selection out the back. 2x 10G, 1 SFP, 2.5G *4...

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

I've tested those with AX200/210 and nothing else in between (single client to make sure results were linear). Identical bonding and channel selection. Same stationary distance. Even swapped units incase of defect. I don't doubt the results, I'm just partial to subjective environment playing...

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

I've had a couple samples of the GT-AX6000 perform like complete garbage relative to Gen 1 BCM AX HW. I'm in the camp where I'll argue that subjective testing doesn't matter much unless you're the one testing it. Theres too much environment bias for HW. I did end up on a Qualcomm Networking...

    BCM4916 process node?

Yeah it's marketed as a quad on QCA site 🤣 Not sure if they ever changed it for current BE generation, but AX gen IPQ8072/A was similar with NSS on chip. Original clock speed was 1.5ghz at launch.. Got boosted to 1.7ghz with "A" revision. So.. we kinda have to look at this two ways.. Do SoCs...
