So do not many people like the AC 2400 or 3200?

I've owned an RT-AC87U for a couple of months now, upgrading from an RT-N66U which was a brand new product when I bought it. I feel as if I'm in the group of people that don't really have any issues anymore - 5GHz is rock solid for me on the latest firmware and default settings (with Apple...

    NAT Loopback and PS3

UPnP? It depends on the circumstances really. Essentially it's a method of "automatic port forwarding" where devices request to the UPnP device (the router) a specific port to be routed to them for a duration of time. Game consoles primarily rely on UPnP due to their usage of peer to peer...

Asus AC3200 - Help with Disconnect

Note that disabling beamforming has the potential side effect of reducing throughput at range. Are the drivers on the laptops up to date? Are there other wireless clients which don't have issues?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 Beta 1 is out

Many shooter games are P2P-based and therefore leaves you at the mercy of the connection of the host - which is very often not great and tends to introduce a lot of lag issues. I don't think kill/death ratios are great indicators of whether or not there is a serious issue going on here - like I...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 Beta 1 is out

I'm not sure how this is a valid "test" - that connection test relies on a lot of outside dependencies (Sony Entertainment Network's servers) which are finicky in their own right as it is. A few seconds of difference during a connection test doesn't mean much. Do you experience issues in online...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 Beta 1 is out

What is this "lag test"? Without knowing how you're testing these numbers are meaningless.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Not obvious at all - if this were the firmware's fault, this would be a much more widespread problem. Since other routers share the same NAT module (RT-AC68U, RT-AC87U and RT-AC3200) there should be issues on all routers and there simply isn't. I think there are other factors at play here...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

For what it's worth I'm not sure if the firmware is necessarily to blame here - I have zero PS4 lag on any firmware (Asus or Merlin's) with NAT acceleration on over WiFi even.

    CUSTOM/FORK RMERLIN FIRMWARE

If you are not an alternate account of hggomes' then I do apologize - I did however (and still do find it very odd) that the online statuses of hggomes and yours were very much opposites of one another, with your account being created specifically (seemingly) to respond to me. I would really...

    CUSTOM/FORK RMERLIN FIRMWARE

I don't think I've made 17 posts in this thread. As I've said before, anyone is free to do as they want - I would rather that they are informed however. I think this should be an open discussion for all to see, considering its relevance to security to anyone who chooses to install the...

    CUSTOM/FORK RMERLIN FIRMWARE

I don't believe there's any harm in reiterating the facts - when hggomes has been asked to provide the source, he has continued to lie and make excuses for not uploading it. Whether or not that is of concern to anyone is not my judgment call to make - but people (especially who have not bothered...

    CUSTOM/FORK RMERLIN FIRMWARE

Not trying to start another flamewar in this thread, but I think someone should (once again) question the legitimacy and motives of this firmware... If hggomes "doesn't have the time" to upload sources to GitHub, but has the time to continue distributing new builds via PMs, I think people...

    [CLOSED] Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 1 is out

It's actually both - the chart shows lots of outgoing throughput which is really my incoming throughput (my upload speed could not possibly reach that high).

    [CLOSED] Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 1 is out

Noticed that the traffic monitor's counts are backwards - reception and transmission appear to be swapped.

[RT-AC87U] Wireless printing fails for no particular reason

Did that as well - printer is running both the latest firmware and accompanying driver on OS X. I did update to Merlin's new .50 beta 1 firmware and things have improved greatly - the printer does seem to respond much faster, especially when querying for ink levels (what took ~10 seconds...

[RT-AC87U] Wireless printing fails for no particular reason

Tried that yesterday, as well as clearing the printing system on OS X. Same issue cropped up today.

[RT-AC87U] Wireless printing fails for no particular reason

I've been wrangling for this one for a few days with little success. I replaced an old RT-N66U with an RT-AC87U, which I'm very happy with the upgrade. It came with an odd side-effect, however: my HP wireless printer has decided to intermittently stop working. Here's the scenario: HP...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I'm not using the Print Server however (I've had this issue before), I'm exclusively using Apple's AirPlay implementation.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Has anyone tried/had issues with AirPrint and this router? I have an HP printer/scanner combination which worked flawlessly with my old RT-N66U connected to a MacBook Pro on the 2.4GHz network. Now, with the RT-AC87U, most times the computer doesn't even recognize that the printer is turned...
