RT-AX92U exceptions in log, blank AiMesh page

I've had some network instability with my 3x RT-AX92U mesh over the last few days, and the flaky periods roughly correlate with some unusual error messages in the logs. I've reproduced a representative sample in the attached log file, but it breaks down to "PSM microcode watchdog fired", and...

    GUI on AiMesh Node

If there are specific ("Professional") settings that are not applied to the nodes, that seems like a bug that should be reported to Asus. I try not to mess with them too much to begin with, but I do expect them to apply to the whole network. What settings aren't propagating?

AiMesh Node going OFFLINE after a few weeks

I think I posted this elsewhere, Asus really should let the main mesh AP / router assign a static IP to each participating node, when its own IP is static. It makes no sense to assign a static IP to the main AP but require operational DHCP to allow nodes to join the network.

RT-AX92U 5GHz-2 can only use DFS channels?

I have an RT-AX92U mesh and configured the 5GHz-2 band for backhaul. In the "Wireless - General" tab, I'm able to select this band, and look at the Control Channel dropdown. It offers every multiple of 4 from 100 - 140. There's also a checkbox for "Auto select including DFS channels". My...

AC86U on 3.0.0.4.386_41634 WiFi losing connectivity

Your problem sounds very similar to mine: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ax-92u-mesh-single-devices-unable-to-communicate-at-seemingly-random-intervals.68816/ . I described some changes in that thread, namely updating everything to the 41535 firmware, disabling Universal Beamforming, and...

[SOLVED] Help! Cannot connect AC68U to my AC86U as aimesh node

I had similar issues with my mesh (3x AX92U), a few months ago when I did a firmware update, then just now when I tried to factory reset one flaky node and re-add it. I've seen a lot of suggestions, and I'm honestly not sure what it was that finally made it work for me. Might be: * Set web...

AX-92U mesh: single devices unable to communicate at seemingly-random intervals

@screamjojo, I've seen a number of posts like this one that suggest that the pattern of "Disassociated because sending station is leaving", then "Auth", then "Assoc", is totally fine and normal, and not indicative of a problem. They're saying that Asus left some debug-level logging code enabled...

AX-92U mesh: single devices unable to communicate at seemingly-random intervals

@L&LD, do I read your instructions correctly that you want people to do a WPS-button reset, then a web-UI "restore/initialize" reset, then re-flash the firmware manually, *twice*? ("repeat steps 11, 12, and 13") That's going to take hours, especially in a mesh configuration where you'd have to...

AX-92U mesh: single devices unable to communicate at seemingly-random intervals

I updated the firmware to the new release last night. I don't want to jinx it but so far, no more random dropouts. I used the upgrade function on the web UI firmware page and guess it did all 3 devices in the right order. I haven't tried a reset yet (so, "dirty" upgrade) but will try that if...

AX-92U mesh: single devices unable to communicate at seemingly-random intervals

There's a new firmware version as of today. I don't know if it's more likely to help or to make things worse. If I don't get any suggestions here soon, I might give it a shot, since it's been getting really bad lately, knocking devices offline at random.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U 3.0.0.4.386.41535 30/12/2020

Ah, my bad, the same version also just showed up for the AX-92U, which is what I have, but as I say the previous build added the fancy AiMesh management page. I guess the AX86U is just getting it now?

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U 3.0.0.4.386.41535 30/12/2020

It's strange that they call out "AiMesh 2.0" in the release notes because all those features sound like things that were introduced in the previous update (40451). My last upgrade was a nightmare, half the day spent re-re-re-flashing nodes, after the "easy" upgrade failed for some reason. I'm...

AX-92U mesh: single devices unable to communicate at seemingly-random intervals

I've been running a 3xAX-92U mesh for a couple of months now -- all on (official) firmware 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c. The configuration is mostly stock, in Dual Band Smart Connect mode, channels manually specified on both bands, 1@20MHz and 36@20/40/80MHz. One node is on wired backhaul, the...

AiMesh RT-AX92U: Disable LEDs on the second unit

Sorry I forgot to come back and update this. Yeah, there was a big update that completely overhauled that AiMesh page and added (among other things) individual settings for the nodes.

    AiMesh nodes always use DHCP?

Marky, I'm running my own DHCP server elsewhere on the network. The AiMesh network is configured in AP mode so I don't have a "DHCP Server" tab, even if I wanted to use the AX92U as a server. The point of my original post is that in order for the mesh node to get a lease, it has to be able to...

    RT-AX92U issue

I'm seeing a similar problem with a Surface Book 2, I think. I have 3x AX92U as a mesh (AP mode), and when the laptop connects to the primary node, it shows a good wireless connection but all its traffic gets dropped. Both the other nodes, no problem. The logs look like Nov 18 10:23:40...

    AiMesh nodes always use DHCP?

Basically, it's a perversion of the OSI model to have lower layers depend on the successful operation of higher layers to be able to function -- it's supposed to be the other way around. DHCP should (in the moral-imperative sense) be able to work even if IP routing is buggered. But if my...

    AiMesh nodes always use DHCP?

I have three RT-AX92Us configured as mesh in AP mode. The primary is set to a static LAN IP, but as far as I can tell there's no way to assign static IPs to the nodes. It's been mostly stable, but I've had a few weird outages lately where devices will be able to connect to one node but not...

    RT-AX92U new firmware - 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c

I'm not an expert, but when I used the "Restore" button in the web UI (stock firmware), there was a checkbox next to it. I just checked, the label is "Initialize all the settings, and clear all the data log for AiProtection, Traffic Analyzer, and Web History." I suspect that what this actually...

    RT-AX92U new firmware - 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c

Oh that's what it is, I didn't use the add button in the new section, I used the front page -> Mesh Nodes -> Search (in sidebar) method. Anyway, good advice if it helps people troubleshoot the process.
