Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Hi GSpock You need to add a static arp entry in router and nas arp tables. First arp -s is for add a nas entry in router's arp table. Last sentence means that you need to add a static arp entry in NAS arp table about router info (arp -s [ROUTER IP] [ROUTER MAC])

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

I finally found a temporary workaround using ebtables that works fine for me. By adding this lines to services-start script you can configure an arp proxy to filter all arp requests from internal network to NAS letting router do this job (first command) and block all arp requests from router...

    Enable arptables

I'm trying to do this because my router is waking up my nas every hour. This problem is present in recent Asus firmwares (stock and Merlin) and seems that is due an arp broadcast sent to update new network map functionality. What I want to do is to fix this disabling all arp packets towards nas...

    Enable arptables

It's possible to enable arptables command in Merlin? What I want to do is to block arp traffic from router to a specific network device and add this device manually to router's arp table. Maybe there is a better way to achieve this but I don't know how... any idea?

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Asus is aware of this issue. There are some Asus developers collaborating in this forum and they have been informed about the problem by Rmerlin and other members (also by me) but to be honest I don't think they will hear us, at least, to release a fix quickly... ...and from my point of view...

[Beta] RT-AC68U/87U/3200 9.0.0.4_380_2295-g1423616 Beta for checking bug in Network Map

Hi Raw316! I also support the request. We need a fix for wake up issue with some network devices. My Synology NAS is waking up every first minute of each hour with recent firmware versions. Seems that issue is related with network map and is affecting a lot of different devices and...

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Before talking with Asus we need to know if this problem is present in stock firmware too. I use Merlin and can't check but maybe another member or RMerlin can confirm if networkmap module has been modified in Merlin.

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Question here is why with older firmwares, hibernation of Synology and other devices are working fine and with newer ones not. Not upgrading router's firmware is a problem specially when critical vulnerabilities are discovered and not pached and continuos NAS waking up is not good for the HDs. I...

Thank you. I'm still testing but I have a question. This is a problem of the stock firmware, Merlin or both?

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Thank you. I downgraded my router and Synology continues waking up. Not as often as before but I think that not more than three or four hours hibernating. I have just unplugged network cable to check and I'm going to enable log to see what's happening. Meanwhile any idea?

Asus AC87U ARP requests waking Synology NAS

Same problem here with Synology and 380.57. According to your experience I'm going to revert to 378.54_2 but I have a question. It's possible to perform the downgrade directly or I have to reset configuration after downgrade?

Ports used by Aicloud and block from WAN

Hi, As fas as I know, Aicloud feature listens on ports 443 and 8082 but when I enable it I see ports 80, 443, 8082 and 21 opened to WAN, why? Is this ok? On the other hand I want to block Aicloud only for lan. I think I can do that with iptables but I'm totally lost. Thank you.

Possible bug with Aicloud and router custom certificate

Hi forum I have an RT-AC68U with latest Merlin firmware. I'm having problems to enable Aicloud Smart Access, I can enable feature in admin web console but when I try to navigate to Aicloud internal webpage (served by router) get a "not reachable" error. Doing some research I found that the...
