    Bridge Options

No worries brother. Pricing on used stuff is always negotiable. ;) More to the point, I'm glad you found a workable solution to your problem.

    Bridge Options

I was thinking back to yesteryear and remembered I still have some old equipment. Went to look in my cubby. I have an ASUS Dark Knight RT-N66U w/ Merlin FW. Also an Apple Airport Express A1392 (second gen). As I recall, last time I used the Airport I had it set in bridge mode with the Dark...

My Head Hurts....Got Any Wifi Advice?

Am I understanding this correctly? I could get this $50 EdgeMax router and configure a few different ways: 1. ER-X + nanoHD = $229 with AC wifi 2. ER-X + AmpliFi Alien (set to bridge mode) = $429 with AX wifi 3. ER-X + Aruba Instant On AP22 = $210 with AX wifi What am I missing? Seems...

What's expensive? You can pick up a new AC66U for about $100. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N08LPPP/?tag=snbforums-20 You can probably source one on eBay, Craigslist or FB market for cheaper.

My Head Hurts....Got Any Wifi Advice?

Thank you for the response back, it is appreciated. I'm not savvy on LAG. I just started learning about it during my recent search for new equipment and trying to make sure I got stuff that allowed me to maximize my 1Gb connection. So in my brain since my MB8600 had LAG abilities...

    AX8 vs. AX12 (rax120 and 200) Range?

Just a thought, but if you aren't happy with where the wiring dumps then you could install a gigabit switch and run one new line to a more optimal location for the router.

    Netgear Orbi (Wi-Fi 6) 753 or 852?

Maybe this helps? Appears to be a Netgear FAQ page. OFDMA is supposed to be a feature of the Wifi6 standard, so theoretically all Wifi6 products should have this. On the side, it indicates this applies to Orbi...

My Head Hurts....Got Any Wifi Advice?

Been a long while since I've been here. Lots of changes. Current dilemma is we recently upgraded to Cox Gigablast plan, and using the rented CGM4141 modem/router combo. My last purchase of equipment was an older Arris modem + ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight running Merlin. It was rock solid, but is...

    Question about netflix on devices

If it is family I'd demand control,of their machine so you can block programs. If the family member isn't a child it's probably easier to disconnect them altogether and explain the reason why. Netflix is annoying. Kodi has the potential to be damaging. IMO you need to divert those risks.

    Question about netflix on devices

FYI the VPN services I've seen suggested provide a secure undocumented tunnel to proxies inside and outside the US that then connects to Kodi streaming sites. Ther main selling point is anonymity I haven't researched far enough to confirm or deny. Warning flags went up when I saw that...

    Question about netflix on devices

Glad to see you found a solution. In regards to Kodi, I just started fiddling with it recently. It can be a very powerful tool. Obviously the potential exists to utilize loads of bandwidth and hit sites that you don't want to be associated with; however, from what I understand, you'd need to...

How to Create Custom Page for Blocked Users?

Awhile back I implemented some control measures to help better maintain my home network. One of things I would like to improve is implementing a "custom page" for blocked users. It doesn't need to be fancy. Something like the example below would be fine. I just don't like how it defaults...

    Did the bandwidth limiter change?

I'm on 380.59 and have to enter and set limits for each device. Not a huge deal for my home network as there are limited users I have to control with this feature; however, I could see this as a pain and limitation in a bigger environment.

    Question about netflix on devices

I have OpenDNS setup for one of my kids. After you configure OpenDNS on their website, log into your router and: 1. Go to Parental Controls 2. Click on DNS Filtering 3. Slide the switch for filtering to ON. 4. Change Global to No Filtering. 5. In the Clients List, select the offender you...

Traffic Limiter / Bandwidth Cap -- Is It Possible?

Can you elaborate more on how to configure as NFS or FTP? Or point me in the right direction? Currently the 2 computers that need to access the shared drive are both Macs pushing OS X. Being based on Unix, I assume I could use the NFS method for these Macs. This is a private home network and...

Traffic Limiter / Bandwidth Cap -- Is It Possible?

Thanks for the input guys. I saw where Merlin mentioned the Traffic Limiter was turned off, but those quotes were pulled from the BETA testing thread I originally linked. I was hopeful that maybe it had been further developed and turned on since the beta and I was missing it. Merlin, any...

Traffic Limiter / Bandwidth Cap -- Is It Possible?

I agree, cutting them off would be much easier. But since it's also a family issue, it's not quite that simple. So I am trying to implement some controls, if possible. Right now I can't really afford to buy more advanced equipment. So if there is a way to turn on "Traffic Limiter" that...

Traffic Limiter / Bandwidth Cap -- Is It Possible?

Hey all, new here but hoping someone can help me. I have a home network setup being controlled by an ASUS NT-R66U "Dark Knight" router. I've flashed the firmware to the latest Merlin build, 380.59.0. I have a combination of various devices connected such as Macs, PC's, iPad, iPhone, Android...
