    Agree. I guess for someone who is not looking to debug but just stop the issue until others can fix, maybe your idea may work for them? That is, just add a copy of all their custom cru a commands in the firewall-start script.

    Can you show the vpn log when you attempt to connect from outside your network (from the wan)? There should also be lots of other attempted connections from the Internet there as well (lots of uninvited folks knocking on your door).

    I'm connecting with Android 14 without issue on stock. Only difference I see in the config files is that mine has my explict wan address instead of the asus ddns address in various locations (config file created automatically from the gui).

    Some versions of firmware don't accept CIDR notation. Have you tried destination of 192.168.1.*?

    This is the way to go. One button on my phone connects the vpn and I'm inside my lan. Other button on my phone executes a bash script that sends a ssh command to the router to wake up my pc.

    I never could figure out why my background processes kept stopping unless I used screen. One thought that maybe it was a security guardian or something doing it, so I stopped digging.

    Maybe you could try the "screen" app from entware. It allowed me to run a process in the background on my router unattended. Nothing else seemed to work for me. This is the syntax I used: screen -S scriptname -dm sh -c "/path/to/script/script.sh $ARGS > /path/to/log/script.log"

    Good news to report. After an initial hiccup the night after install, firmware has been stable a week later. Looks like they fixed whatever was causing the crashes with this version.
