    A configuration option probably would be a good idea with a default state as disabled. A user then can elect for those update cycles.

    That's flawed logic though, what if the production release has something resolved from the beta cycle? You're basically saying because they were part of the same release cycle they're the same firmware so let's not update which is not true.

    You have to build in logic for how you detect update versions to say -beta in the version name is older than the same firmware version if they are numerically the same.

    Try turning on NVRAM checks (configuration menu) and see if that helps prevent the lock ups, The AC86U is the biggest offender of that issue but I have seen it on other models as well, it’s an ASUS issue not the script.
