    My router ip is 192.168.1.1 so I would need to set 192.168.0.1? I have never found Advertise DNS to client so I’ll keep looking. Thanks for your reply.

    so had a little play about. If I have it set on director with just the one device then I can log in ok, if I set it to 192.168.1.1/24 the I am back to square one with not being able to log in… unless the DNS just takes a long time to see the ip change to the vpn IP, or is it literally the vpn...

    so far on director I only have one device (most important) connected to vpn and it allows me to log in so I’ll have a read of the guide posted above for director. Thanks for all the comments.

    Thanks for such fast responses, When i go into director I only seem to have the ability to choose "WAN" or one of the 5 VPN profiles, after selecting a profile it looks like I can only add devices individually, unless its on a different page and I am missing it.

    I don’t think I was that much out of date, I think I have sussed it, seems like I’ve either caught, or update has activated https so I’ve had to log into 192.168.1.1:8443. This has let me log in, just need to figure how to turn it off now . Thanks.

    Ive had my 5300 for about 4/5 years now, last night i noticed via the asus app that there was an update, now i judt pressed update and let it do its thing. after the update, devices still work however i cannot log into the router now, i have tried wireless and wired. I just get a timeout page...

    fantastic, thanks, if mesh/extra wont help ill just have to stick to the smaller file sizes or transfer to usb. for the little amount of films i watch i cant justify a NAS when i have a pc that can do it, just the pc is in the incorrect location. thanks all.

    That wasn’t really part of my issue, just another way of trying to get round it. maybe I just have to live with it, in the previous house I was hard wired all round and everything was fine. I’ve just bought a new OLED TV so I want to watch the best files I can, and I’m just sulking because I can’t.

    Ethernet isn’t an option or I would have done it. 2 doorways and no real clean way to wire around. I was doubting the adapters but I have just copied and pasted. 46gb file to the router HDD and tried to stream direct off router but still no joy (only tried on firestick upstairs).

    Distance from router to TV is approx 10ft. (9measured). distance from pc to router is 28ft but has a 5inch and 7inch Walsall between them line of site.

    I did have that Asus router but sold it because it wasn’t AI mesh ‍♂️ I use my pc as the downloader/NAS. Tempted to move the pc but sometimes wife does school Work (TA training to be a higher TA) then it would be on the tv. Then sometimes I’m on the pc and kids use it so think that’s out...
