Solved UPDATE: No longer required. See thread. - [Feature request] Option for DHCP Query Frequency Backoff Mode

Yes, however building firewall rulesets and gateway groups isn't as quick as setting up an Asus device. I spent hours troubleshooting my Sky TV today to finally realise that it depends on a ping test to the router itself to prove it has connectivity, but policy based routing for failover had...

Solved UPDATE: No longer required. See thread. - [Feature request] Option for DHCP Query Frequency Backoff Mode

Well, for giggles (and out of frustration) I bought myself some hardware and built an Opnsense firewall/router. I am now using this for routing and connectivity to my primary fibre ONT plus secondary 5G backup router, with my Asus devices in AP mode as a mesh. I can confirm everything is now...

WAN Reconnect Problems Across ASUS Routers / Firmware Versions

I bought myself some hardware and built an Opnsense firewall/router. Using this for routing and connectivity to my primary fibre ONT and secondary 5G backup router, with my Asus devices in AP mode i can confirm everything is now stabilised. It certainly seems to be an Asus issue, but my fix...

AX88U Pro VLAN support: AP Mode?

They appear to be present in stock firmware running in AP mode

I know, fancy wanting a stable WAN connection and the advertised Dual WAN functionality listed in the router specs

Solved UPDATE: No longer required. See thread. - [Feature request] Option for DHCP Query Frequency Backoff Mode

That's how I am running, and previously ran with my old ISP. It's just frustrating that such basic bugs have been around for years and never fixed. My other challenge is that I want dual-WAN failover but my 5G router causes the same WAN connectivity failures as my ONT when the IP address changes...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

I second that - my previous RT-AX88U and RT-AX86U models were fine with a GUI reset. It might be a placebo effect but my RT-AX88U Pros I upgraded to seem to behave better with a reset button reset so I always do both.

Solved UPDATE: No longer required. See thread. - [Feature request] Option for DHCP Query Frequency Backoff Mode

As a long time Asus and Merlin user I’ve recently become blighted by this issue having swapped to a fibre ISP. Any drop from the ONT causes the issue and I seem to get multiple drops per day. It may be related to the isp 8 hour dhcp leases. I have static IP on my service and configuring static...

WAN Reconnect Problems Across ASUS Routers / Firmware Versions

I'm temporarily running the latest Asus stock firmware (haven't updated my signature) as I was trying to compare the behaviour, so haven't been able to try this fix. If it really is so clear cut I wonder if RMerlin could include a fix in his code.

WAN Reconnect Problems Across ASUS Routers / Firmware Versions

I found this thread whilst researching problematic WAN reconnections after failures. I only started to see these recently after moving to fibre broadband with a new ISP on connecting via an ONT - I've previously been in a double NAT situation. I'm not technical enough to work through this on my...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I'm home from my travels and will start to look into this a little more. Firstly I thought it was best to start from a known state so I have fully reset and re-installed 388.6 and then ONLY YazDHCP, email settings and your script. I can now start some better testing, but I have a couple of...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33308

Thanks for your reply. I’d only seen negative posts about this release but your post puts it into perspective. I’m in a similar situation to you and a return to stock feels like the sensible route for me. Probably my biggest challenge is that I have lots of DHCP reservations in use currently...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33308

This thread has been very quiet. Are people using this release successfully now? I have been using Merlin, however it's time for a full reset and rebuild due to some issues and I was wondering if a return to stock might be worthwhile as I use less and less of RMerlin's additional feature set now.

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I've been seeing the same issue and eventually my router decided to start trying to failover. I'm overseas currently and got a report from home that there was no internet. A reboot fixed it temporarily but I was starting to get the same log errors so I have temporarily removed your script until...

Asus GT-AX11000 - Dual WAN Issues - Does Merlin Resolve?

The easiest way is to install Merlin, full reset and manually reconfigure, turn on basic dual WAN but NOT failback or the built-in failure monitoring for DNS or Ping. Over an SSH connection use AMTM (distributed as part of the Merlin firmware) to install the Dual WAN Failover script. You can...

AX88U Pro - Official vs Merlin FW

I have 3 RT-AX88U Pro routers and on the current latest release versions of both RMerlin and Stock I haven't experienced any significant difference in stability - they are both good. I personally feel that the decision should be based on the features you need. I have noticed one feature in this...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

It seems we hurt their feelings at Asus HQ https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax88u-pro-firmware-version-3-0-0-6-102_32843-2023-11-27.87818/unread :D

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

I really don't understand your logic to say that Asus support is on the ball with these models. RMerlin doesn't prove anything as he can work with the source code which is largely common across the models, however he is dependant on Asus to release binaries for the closed source component...
