    Upgrade AX86U to AX88U Pro?

I just swapped 2 x AX86Us for 2 x AX88U PROs however in my case it was to match up my main router and nodes. I've always felt my AX86Us as nodes for my AX88U were troublesome and often wished I'd bought 3 AX88Us originally. I will probably swap the remaining AX88U for a PRO and eBay all of my...

Help me Choose between RT AX 86U Pro Vs RT AX 88U Pro

Not many unfortunately as manufacturers are still mainly using cheap as chips N technology, a few AC ones (I think they only support it on 5Ghz) so unfortunately I stand corrected.

Help me Choose between RT AX 86U Pro Vs RT AX 88U Pro

I own both RT-AX86U and RT-AX88U models, and have recently bought 2 RT-AX88U PROs to replace my AX86Us and downgrade the AX88U to a mesh node. I may replace it with a PRO model later. My own experience has been that I hit issues with the configuration of WiFi on my RT-AX86Us effecting the...

GT-AX6000 - some devices cannot connect via WiFi

I have exactly this problem with my RT-AX86U mesh nodes. Some 2.4Ghz devices will connect to my RT-AX88U main router, but simply refuse to connect to the nodes. If I switch to a different WiFi authentication method and then switch back it is resolved. I occasionally have to repeat the 'fix'...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

I have to agree that there is something not quite right with this router combination. My experience is that 2.4Ghz IoT devices have been more problematic, and I use a lot of TP-Link Tapo energy monitoring smart plugs which very quickly highlight problems for me. I have pretty much narrowed my...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

Can you give a bit more information on this problem. I have previously reported on 388.1 that it appeared my RT-AX86U nodes didn't seem to get all WiFi settings updated when I changed them on the main RT-AX88U router. Could the problem have caused this type of effect?

    [ 388.2 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Does this mean that running your firmware on the nodes will be preferred until Asus stock catches up, or is it only relevant on the main router?

    [ 388.2 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Yes, I am aware others have reported this problem. To assist @RMerlin with diagnosis I am confirming that (contrary to earlier posts) matching node versions and a full factory reset do not resolve it.

Also have issues with the AiMesh Topology page. I can confirm that all my nodes are on the same base GPL as the main router and that a full reset and manual reconfigure doesn't resolve. At one point this evening, the page was completely unresponsive but seemed to fix itself after a while.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

I'm still running this test firmware on my RT-AX86U nodes and I think the WiFi performance I am getting from them is the best I have experienced. Everything is stable and my devices happily find the best radio between the RT-AX88U main router and the RT-AX86U nodes running this stock test firmware.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Nearly 48 hours now and WiFi is performing very well on my RT-AX86U AiMesh nodes

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.22068

I can't comment on previous versions as I only recently enabled 160Mhz, however using the test firmware posted by @RMerlin yesterday my RT-AX86U mesh nodes have maintained 160Mhz for over 12 hours so far. I live approx 5 miles from a military airport so I do sometimes get radar detections when...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Yes on my RT-AX86U nodes (the RT-AX88U main router was fine) with both your 388.1 firmware and also the most recent stock release 3.0.0.4.388.22068. I had 2.4Ghz IoT devices wouldn't use the AX86Us but were happy on the AX88U, however the worst issue was devices were getting disconnected...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Thanks, I have loaded it on my AiMesh nodes and am resetting them now. I will report back in due course. UPDATE: I immediately note that the connectivity warnings which showed previously after 388 no longer display with my nodes using wired backhaul

No 2.4g Wifi on AX86U after Merlin 388.1 stable (SOLVED)

Nothing jumps out - there are various strange reports with WiFi on the RT-AX86U. It seems to originate from the stock Asus firmware so RMerlin can't do anything to fix, but I had found that some strange settings changes in WiFi produced unexpected but helpful results.

No 2.4g Wifi on AX86U after Merlin 388.1 stable (SOLVED)

I had a similar problem with my RT-AX86U nodes running against my main router which is a RT-AX88U. I have found that if I switch the 2.4Ghz Authentication Method to WPA2/WPA3 and saved settings the IOT devices are able to connect to the RT-AX86Us. It seemed that it wasn't that specific setting...

    [ 388.2 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Although interesting that some AX models appear to have changed branch (I could be completely wrong) when looking at the build script: - BRANCH_AX86=386.7_x - BRANCH_AX68=386.7_x + BRANCH_AX86=master + BRANCH_AX68=master
