RT-AX56U leaves DFS channels without reporting any radar events

In my case I don't normally open up the WDS tab so I don't think this is my problem, but I do think there is something possibly environmental near one particular AX56U which switches more frequently (maybe once per 24 hours) or maybe a false positive radar hit. The issue is that it drops onto...

RT-AX56U leaves DFS channels without reporting any radar events

I've just found this thread as I'm suffering the same 5Ghz channel hopping on my RT-AX56Us. I don't use WDS, but either AP mode or AiMesh - they do it in both modes. Did you get anywhere towards solving the problem? What firmware were you having the problem on?

AiMesh Feature Request - Option to choose Wireless Control Channel for AiMesh Nodes

Not when using ethernet backhaul. It's a feature of enterprise class wireless systems. I've submitted a change request to Asus myself on this subject although without others also supporting it I suspect it won't get far.

AiMesh Feature Request - Option to choose Wireless Control Channel for AiMesh Nodes

I submitted the same request to Asus asking for Multi Channel Mesh when in Ethernet Backhaul Mode (obviously doesn't make sense in wireless mode)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Except that the default 80Mhz width that is pretty much default now uses channels 36-48 so when your neighbour generates a stronger signal than your own to some of your devices you have no real choice. The problem seems to be false RADAR detections (my old RT-AC68U doesn't get them in the same...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I experience the same on my RT-AX56Us running stock or Merlin firmware using 80Mhz. Please report it to Asus as I'm trying t get them to take it seriously.

Import settings to new firmware? How and why not if router does it?

I think the key information is that some settings are not visible to us in the GUI but are used internally by the router. Therefore we never know if these defaults change from version to version. My view is slightly different that ASUS know this and “should” tell us when they release a version...

    Beta RT-AX88U 9.0.0.4.386.41994

Not necessarily - I think this means that it has been issued quickly as Asus consider the vulnerabilities to require immediate attention. There are already observations that some GUI icons are different from 386_41700, and anecdotal information that WIFI performance is improved on some models...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

That was me - I've had it quite a few times on 5Ghz and occasionally on 2.4Ghz. The 2.4Ghz has probably only been recent on 386_41535, 386_41700 and this latest beta RC2-11. The 5Ghz behaviour has been around for most of the 386 variants and seems to be related to DFS false positives kicking a...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I found a bug, probably an ASUS one. RT-AX88U, using smart connect and setup from a reset with WIFI 6 / AX. I turned off Targeted Wake Time in the WiFi settings page which applied, swapped to professional settings and saved a change there, returned to the general WiFi settings and Targeted Wake...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

On the betas I found that this is caused by Tend Micro. Turning off individual Trend Micro services didn't solve it, but withdrawing my permission on the Privacy page stopped it.

    Wireless channel for Aimesh Node

Normally AiMesh uses the same channels on each node. This is known as a single channel mesh, and when using wireless backhaul it’s needed for the different nodes to communicate. There is multi channel mesh available more widely in the enterprise networking space but this relies on wired...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

I've loaded this latest 386_41994 firmware on a couple of RT-AX56Us, performed a factory reset and configured them as APs. I have noticed that the default setting for Target Wake Time has been changed to Disabled. It could be the placebo effect, but they do indeed feel snappier from a client...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

Then maybe be a little more explicit in your request before having a pop at me when I'm trying to help. Your only post in this thread on this topic reads: Perhaps being clear that the only way you know to do it remotely is.........................

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

Once you’ve removed a node from the mesh allow it to restart. Then for belt and braces follow the ASUS FAQ https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1039074 note that the process is different depending on your model.

    AX88U channel bandwidth setting

I believe that the difference is 20/40/80 will select the bandwidth (20, 40 or 80) setting for the wifi radio based on channel availability, noise etc. 80Mhz will force it to always use 80. Client devices will each select a bandwidth based on their own capability (20, 40 or 80) up to a maximum...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0 (continued)

My hunch is that there's some problems with the RT-AX56U code still. I had some issues in the last 24 hours with Merlin 386.1 beta5 (based on 386_41700). Hopefully the delay is Asus testing and perfecting the release.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I went back to basics overnight to ensure that we had a network running - RT-AX88U running beta5 as main router with WiFi turned off. RT-AC68U as AP running 41634 covering the problematic cameras, RT-AX56U as AP running beta5 covering main living area of house. Everything was running beautifully...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Interesting - it could be new defaults introduced in the GPL used for beta5. I did a full reset after upgrading. I'm just going back to beta4b / beta4 with a full reset to see if it helps me. If that is stable again for a day or two I might try a dirty upgrade if the lynch mob go out for any...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

There's definitely something strange going on with 2.4Ghz in my setup using Beta 5. My RT-AX56Us as mesh nodes for the RT-AX88U have the issues with devices struggling to connect and getting poor performance. I tested with my RT-AC68U as an AP and it worked fine. So I upgraded it to beta5 then...
