    RT-AX88U extremely slow 2.4Ghz speeds

You said that throughput on 5Ghz WiFi and LAN are fine so was working on the assumption that the issue is with your 2.Ghz client connections. Are you thinking that overall throughput of the 2.4Ghz side of the router is poor, or that each 2.4Ghz client is experiencing poor speed. Have a look and...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Apologies that we are slightly off topic but for those trying Cake with high download bandwidths on asymmetrical connections, have you tried setting the download bandwidth to zero (unlimited) so the shaper only applies to upload? I'm not sure how much impact this will have as there's still no...

    RT-AX88U extremely slow 2.4Ghz speeds

Generally the newer firmware versions offer better WiFi performance on the RT-AX88U - the RMerlin beta you tried is pretty good. Because you've been swapping between firmware versions it is strongly advised to perform a full factory defaults reset - this can be done from the GUI. The reason for...

    ASUS RT-AX88U Range Improvements...

I agree, arp cache and IP conflicts I fully get, but generally these are transient and fix themselves quite quickly as the arp cache decays or IP assignments renew. My real concern is what configuration people believe is permanently stored in the client that recreating the connection on the...

    Ditto - works well

    ASUS RT-AX88U Range Improvements...

I'm afraid your answer is vague and doesn't provide facts - it's just opinion and anecdotal information. I have a lot of respect for RMerlin, however even his reasons are very vague Whilst I understand that the approach gives certainty by ensuring everything is reconfigured from scratch, I am...

    ASUS RT-AX88U Range Improvements...

I run an AX88U as my main router - to be honest the WiFi has been the worst part of the router and I think the drivers have always been poor. 2.4Ghz range has been poor for a long time since Asus moved to a newer set. However they are improving with every major code release and with the 386...

    ASUS RT-AX88U Range Improvements...

I've asked in the past but never received a reply. Why do you feel it's necessary to use "new" SSIDs? What configuration information is stored on the device that makes this necessary? As an example, my employer uses the same network details in every location, but the actual hardware used varies...

Skynet "Elvis has left the building ... "

I have to agree, whilst it's obviously the site owner's prerogative to run it as they wish, for the benefit of the community it would seem like the time to find an amicable compromise (Hhhmm I'm UK based, did someone mention Brexit?? o_O ) I don't fully understand the drivers for the change in...

    CakeQOS CakeQOS-Merlin

To add to previous explanations, Cake is a form of Quality Of Service implementation but differs from the built-in QoS in Asus firmware in a couple of ways: Quality Of Service is a collection of measures that aim to ensure multiple connections sharing the same internet service all work happily...

Has anyone from the UK got an AX router without merlin on it working with SKY?

I still use the Sky Hub  however I don't have issues with latency or packet loss. I read that a lot of people found turning off IP V6 on the Sky Hub and relying on IP V4 helps resolve this issue. I also have my Asus router set as the DMZ device on the Sky Hub. Make sure your WiFi channels...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

If you're not happy to reset when requested, it's probably worth avoiding the Alpha and Beta code sticking with released versions instead.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

It looks like RMerlin has included a fix since Beta 1 was built. Once Beta 2 is available we can test again rc: always copy LE certs to /etc on httpd start · RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng@a800293 · GitHub

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Why, is it known to cause these issues? I was seeing the problems with inSSIDer rather than experiencing client disconnects.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Sadly even with power set to minimum values, my one node is bouncing around the 5Ghz channels (all except the configured one) including those occupied by my neighbours strong signal. There's something quite strange going on, but I think it might be in the RT-AX56U code which isn't honouring the...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

I've had sporadic issues with both 2.4Ghz disappearing and 5Ghz doing strange things with channels on both AX88U master plus AX56U nodes. I think there's still something wrong with the stock binaries out of RMerlin's control.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I've ended up with 1 of my RT-AX56U nodes constantly changing 5Ghz channels to everything except the fixed one set. The other node and main router are staying where they have been put. Very weird behaviour which might be more about buggy channel allocation on the AX56Us

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Good idea I will try that, however I'm a little concerned that Smart Connect, and probably the mesh itself, act on the signal strength received from the client device, therefore I might have devices connected to my AX88U which aren't receiving a good signal back.
