[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

@JakeJ , I guess you test with all firmware settings out-of-the-box? I wonder if sometimes changing some settings could make a noticeable difference for certain metrics.

    An end to tinkering?

(Don't forget to open the WAN admin port.)

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

So, JakeJ is Sam from Luumina.com? https://luumina.com/asus-rog-gt-ax6000-vs-rt-ax88u-pro-vs-rt-ax86u-pro/ Man, this test shows the AX86U Pro as pretty sad compared to the other two. Why is the 5GHz performance so asymmetrical for the AX86U Pro? ('Downstream' on the router would be 'upload'...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34313 - 2024/05/28

What I found was that it is a cosmetic issue. The setting does change but the page is not updating. If I refresh (forced) the page I see the correct value. I might have to refresh the page even after after logging in to the router.

What is the router PIN code used for?

No wonder I've never had a need for it. :) Thanks.

I think that would be a good idea. Try it.

What is the router PIN code used for?

ASUS routers come with a "PIN code" (as seen on the unit and in the web GUI). When is that used?

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

Nothing noted about it in the released notes. You might want to follow the new build's thread instead ...

    GT-ax11000 dead??

Disconnect the power cord at both ends. Leave the router power button on for 10 minutes. Toggle off the router power button. Plug in the power cord, then power on the router. It's a long shot.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

I understand. But 'not recommended' is not the same as 'automatically stripped out for you then you can't connect because you didn't know they were stripped out' or 'not supported'. :) So much for using the same stuff from the old router to save config on the devices ...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

There seems to be a bug with the SSID password (as least for the IoT SSID), as it strips out spaces.

    ASUS Firmware update privacy policy?

I believe that is what I said ...

    ASUS Firmware update privacy policy?

No. ASUS now has two types of updates for its own use: Firmware and a basic router security function known as ASD. You are agreeing or disagreeing to having those things automatically update.

bad PEBs, new router, is this a problem?

What is a "PEB" and how do you know how many bad ones you have?

News Google and Apple - WiFi AP's and mapping

Good article. I've recently been looking into this 10+ year-old issue. Good to know that Apple recently decided to honor "_nomap". I've come to the conclusion it might not mean much, as Google and other entities have been said to be ignoring the string. And any app that has Location Services...

which DNS server is being used

It seems like domains randomly won't resolve, so I have to hit reload on the browser. If I tell Firefox to use NextDNS I don't have this problem. How did you determine Quad9 was trying IPv6 servers first?

why have a domain name in a home LAN?

Right, but I can do that w/o any domain. My computers have hostnames, so I just use pc1 or whatever. I was wondering about this. Thanks.

Those numbers will fluctuate. View them while the device is actually transmitting or receiving and see what the values are.
