ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

Ah, perhaps. I stay away from DFS channels because of some bad jitter I get.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

I will look into that the next time it happens. My router was configured as 20/40/80 MHz in channel 64. I've changed it to 20/40/80/160 MHz in channel 36 just to see what happens. I've thought of that as a potential issue as well. But I don't want to spend any more money on something that is...

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

It happened again to me even after resetting to defaults.

RT-AC88U: 160 MHz channel width does not work on Merlin

Yep, we troubleshot it through irc. Thanks for the model breakdown because we were wondering about it.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

This doesn't look like the problem I was having—in your case, connecting to the 5 GHz results in no connectivity; in my case, connecting to the 5 GHz network resulted in an error message and not being able to connect at all.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

Reverted to stable, cleared everything... Let's see how that goes. Thanks for your help.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

There's no "format jffs partition" option in the stock firmware, but maybe "Initialize all the settings, and clear all the data log for AiProtection, Traffic Analyzer, and Web History." does the same thing?

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

What I do is 1) I install the new firmware and 2) do a hard reset following these instructions: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1039077 I thought that was the correct way.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

I don't think it is possible that JFFS or NVRAM are full because I hard reset the router when I flashed this firmware just yesterday. What I'm going to do is go back to the stable firmware.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

I have 9.0.0.4.386_41994. I can't really say when it started. But I think it is related to torrenting. No it is not the same clients. Max clients could be like 5 on each band more or less. RAM and CPU are ok.

ASUS RT-AC88U 5 GHz band drops some clients and does not accept new connections

From time to time, the 5 GHz band of my AC88U drops a few clients and stops accepting new connections. For example, pretend there are 5 clients connected. After 1 day, 2 of those clients get dropped abruptly and 3 remain connected and work fine, and it's impossible for any device to establish...

RT-AC88U: 160 MHz channel width does not work on Merlin

It works fine on stock firmware as I said, I don't understand why you consider it a bug. Maybe I have a different hardware revision, or a different setting somewhere.

Windows comes with SSH installed by default.

RT-AC88U: 160 MHz channel width does not work on Merlin

I want to make this "official" since it keeps being overlooked. 160 MHz channel width works fine on 9.0.0.4.386_41994, but it does not work at all on 386.1: the checkbox appears, but when you enable it and select 160 MHz as your channel width and then save the new settings, the checkbox gets...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

It is in adaptive qos -> internet speed. But it does not work for me, it says: "This function is temporarily disabled due to Internet disconnection."

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

It was. I used it before...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

160 MHz channel width is no longer available for AC88U?

    AMPDU

AMPDU sounds a lot like Nagle's algorithm, and I can see how disabling it could improve latencies (but not enough as to make any difference).

RT-AC86U IPV6 Router Advertisement not working properly

When it happens, I've found it can be solved by disabling ipv6 entirely, then going back to 6in4 (or whatever you had)

    [RT-AC88U] 160MHz option suddenly available

Exactly the same on my AC88U running the vanilla firmware. I can enable 160 MHz channel width and according to the wireless log it's correctly set, although I don't think I have the necessary hardware in any of my clients to use it.
