    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51685 (2024/04/15)

My easy fix would be: revert to factory defaults and manual configure the router again.

What to enable SSH for Admin login to router.

I suggest to set /Admin/system/SSH back to No. Unless you understand what SSH is and the impact on enabling it for WAN.

Solved AC86U USB not reading 5 volts

I do have an electronics background from ancient times and won't try to repair the router myself....but from my last 20 years work experience I do know some electricians on e.g. offshore ships can do magic and surprise even the original manufacturers by the repairs they manage to do to outdated...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51685 (2024/04/15)

Broke the magic... Both my RT-AC68U Router and the RT-AC1900U Media Bridge did not yet found the new firmware them selves. Performed a dirty upgrade for both units, so far so good.

Fiber Optic Speed on GT-AC5300 Slower than Cable

You still don't reply to the question about the port speed indication. If set with the suggested bare minimal, the optional Trend Micro AiProtection stuff is OFF by default. On Internet there is not such a thing as privacy, it is as private as your house: the post man can (if he want) open your...

ASUS RT AC1900 Router w Netgear M1 issues

I am not sure what subscription you have for the SIM card, usually there is a data bundle (x GB / month) and a call bundle (y min's / month). "unlimitted" data is usually not really unlimitted but shall be within some average bandwidth as described in the contract. What happens if you exceed the...

Fiber Optic Speed on GT-AC5300 Slower than Cable

And what speed does the port status show you? After bringing the router to factory defaults the router shall start with the setup wizard, now manually only make these settings to start with: Router Login Name. Router Login Password. WAN Connection Type, and what is required to connect to the...

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

I am also reading the posts about the RT-AX86U-Pro, I did have one as potential replacement for the RT-AC68U. One simple reason: they share a similar decent housing that perfectly fit at the location of my router. The second reason was the "Pro" promises and outlook to the next Asuswrt firmware...

Fiber Optic Speed on GT-AC5300 Slower than Cable

Also make sure to only have the computer for speed testing connected to you router (no other wired and no wireless clients). Check the router Ethernet Port status for proper bps indications. In your case WAN and the LAN test port should at least read 1 Gbps.

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

Regarding the firmware download and support location: The usual location for active models is: www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/ For EOL models the location is: www.asus.com/supportonly/ No big deal and thanks for jumping on me.

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

Then ASUS is confused them selves. E.g. taken from the GT-AX6000 firmware release notes: ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514 Version 3.0.0.6.102_21514 60.31 MB 2023/06/20 New features for ASUSWRT 5.0 3.0.0.6.102 is ASUSWRT 5.0 and that is what they describe...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51668 (2023/11/30 )

My router does not have Trend Micro features enabled. With firmware 51665 and older both the Router and Media Bridge showed hick-ups now and then, the Media Bridge got frozen about once in a month. After the upgrade to 51668 no single hick-up and the Media Bridge never got frozen. The only...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51668 (2023/11/30 )

In a few words: the more you deviate from the factory default settings, the more troubles you can expect. All the advertised additional fancy features are marketing driven, the more additional features you enable and try to use at the same time, the worse it get. My RT-AC68U Router and...

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

I won’t. As mentioned: there can be various reasons why no new firmwere gets released, the reason can well be beyond control of ASUSand e.g. be the SoC manufacturer. There will also be good and bad designs or SoC’s, the good ones may survive longer in sales and support then the bad ones.

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

I know the professional market never uses consumer products, for networking still Cisco is the number one (not their consumer branch like Linksys). “Less is more” is my way to go, or KISS - keep it simple, stupid. Looking at routers you see that most of the troubles are related to the extra...

News RT-AC68U End of Life Announced by Asus

It is a bit odd, ASUS markets 3.0.0.6 which is ASUSWRT 5.0 as: Professional-grade software tailored for professionals. ASUSWRT 5.0 is a router software that we have newly designed for professional users and commercial scenarios. Source. The GT and Pro models somewhat suggest by their name they...
