RT-AC1900U Firmware flashing failed - red wan light - cannot connect to router

A silly suggestion: given the number of LED's that are on, the router doesn't seems to be dead. Set your computer TCP/IPv4 to automatically obtain an IP address and connect it to a LAN port of the router. Determine if the computer does get an IP address (out of the router), if so: what address...

    weird wifi icon on RT-AC68U

Assuming green color means "good" and if the router works as supposed to work (which is routing Internet traffic between the WAN side and Wireless or the LAN ports), I would say: if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Or wait for a reply of RMerlin as author or Asuswrt-Merlin.

    weird wifi icon on RT-AC68U

I recall now the Yellow exclamation sign can also show if some insecure setting is found, you can click on the exclamation sign to see what it tries to tell you.

    weird wifi icon on RT-AC68U

In stock firmware the yellow exclamation sign at least tells you there is a new firmware version available for download, maybe it can tell you more. Also in stock firmware the exclamation sign only shows (in yellow) if there is something that needs you attention (there is no green "all OK" sign).

    weird wifi icon on RT-AC68U

So it is a visual GUI issue in combination with the browser in use, it is something for @RMerlin to look into as this is Asuswrt-Merlin.

    weird wifi icon on RT-AC68U

I am not sure what the green alarm bell and what the green WiFi icons do mean in Asuswrt-Merlin (usually green means OK and hoovering your mouse pointer over it may gave a hint). The alarm bell is shown over the WiFi icon, which looks like a browser display issue. What if you open the GUI with...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51668 (2023/11/30 )

No speed- or other issues here after a dirty upgrade from 51665 to 51668 with my RT-AC68U, 75 / 75 Mbps subscription, 802.11ac laptops and iPhones.

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51668 (2023/11/30 )

Succesfully upgraded the RT-AC68U Router and RT-AC1900U Media Bridge. For both memory usage seems a bit less than with the previous 51665 version (see here), now see if it doesn't increase over time: RT-AC68U Router - December 5: Update December 6: RAM Used 76 MB. Update December 7: RAM Used...

time to upgrade my RT-AC68U, whats a good replacement that won't break the bank?

I had a similar experience: replaced my good old RT-AC68U with a RT-AX86U Pro (with very similar settings as the old router) and the whole home network became a mess, the wireless printer was not able to stay connected and the wireless signal strength was poor to unworkable compared to the old...

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51665

You and me reported the same dcd crash back in May. For my router it appeared only very occasional and AiProtection is OFF since ever:

    In need of assistance

The RT-AC68U router should quite well be capable to deal with 500 / 500 Mbps, at least with a wired connection from the router to e.g. a PC. My general guideline: Start with checking the wired connections between the modem and the router and between the router and client devices...

    AC68U with 1.5Gb fibre?

To add some to all above: My RT-AC68U did handle around 600 / 600 Mbps, it required either a 1 Gbps wired connection (check the Status Tab on the Network Map page) or at least 2x2 wireless clients. To go beyond 600 - 700 Mbps wireless also the clients need to be capable with e.g. 3x3. In short 1...

    RT-N18U power plug extension

You better bring the 110V or 230V AC power closer to the router with a power extension cord and plug in the power adapter in the power extension cord, this to avoid a DC voltage drop by extending the other end.

    Broken power button

Those power switch failures are very annoying, specially because "no one" ever uses the switch and the failure is not related to the number of switching cycles. The mandatory power switch is introduced years ago after errant regulations. A proper switch would have a significant impact on the...

    “Incorrect password” (WiFi) following reboot

What firmware version is running in the router and nodes? Do not put routers and nodes inside a closet, this will cause wireless range issues and maybe also temperature issues. Prior to decide for auto reboot it is better to try to find the reason for the reboots, the first place to look is at...

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51665

Just for the records :) The router has a straight forward setup and connects to the fiber optic modem, the only thing "special" is the 16 GB USB stick that sits in there as intermediate network storage. The wireless clients are iPhones, Windows laptops, a printer and a RT-AC1900U as Media...

    “Incorrect password” (WiFi) following reboot

Maybe it relates to the sequence of booting or some dead lock during start up. My first guess would be: auto reboot the main router first and say 1 hour after auto reboot the other node(s).

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51665

I can add that my RT-AC68U has an uptime now of 96 days with the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.386.51665. If you scroll back you see some issues I have seen with this firmware, that are pretty sure related to bad "ahs JSON file" updates, the system log doesn't go back further than July 11, no more...

RT-AX88U Pro - SimpliSafe device DHCP Lease Renewal Fails and is Dropped

No, why would I need to try third party firmware to try to make basic functions of the router work? There are new firmware releases after my trials, specially the one ‘Engineered for Intel® Evo™’ seems interesting as that for quite sure involves updated wireless drivers.
