384.7 IPV6 Stateful Generates Logged Errors, Stateless Does Not

I was trying to use it (and would prefer to), but I could not get static assignments to stick. I went back to stateless, because at least I could have one "static" Ipv6 address for each device (via SLAAC). I did not see similar errors, but I am on different hardware (RT-AC3200).

FYI - Norton ConnectSafe is being retired on November 15, 2018

Per an announcement at https://connectsafe.norton.com/, the service will be discontinued on November 15, 2018. I don't know if it had widespread usage in the community, but it is a preset on the DNS-based Filtering page in Asuswrt-Merlin. It is time to explore alternative solutions over the...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I would imagine that Net control packets always have the highest priority, so you might look to utilize those? I would wield that power very carefully, though.

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Even before whitelisting 17.0.0.0/8, I was not having any noticeable problems (but I did it anyway). No problems here. Understanding the extent of the problem would be helpful. We have a lot of Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, iPods, as well as various computers) on the network here.

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

You won't see any output without turning on debug mode.

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

I had this problem with 384.5, but not 384.6.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 is now available

The biggest reason is probably that it is not supported.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Thanks for the reminder. I had already learned that the hard way when I had done some experimenting with the different versions a while back.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I noticed things have changed quite a bit since I originally tested the compatible (before implementing a working solution with the "fast" version). Nonetheless, I decided to go ahead and write new iptables rules to match everything I had in my working "fast" config tonight. It appears to be...

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

I have no doubt there is something in there that is the problem but, if the firmware were BAD, why would it not be BAD for everyone? My point is there is something specific to a few use cases that appears to be a problem. Same hardware devices in other environments are not presenting the same...

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

Not really telling, because I run the current Merlin firmware on an RT-AC3200 with four Roku devices on the network, without any problems. If it were the firmware itself, we should expect to see the same problems with everyone. Comcast is my ISP, if that is a factor. IPv6 won't matter, because...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I've tweaked various things over the years, believing they did something useful, only to have people explain how it had nothing to do with anything important.

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

I reviewed Netflix's "troubleshooting" materials online for this error (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/14424) and they're really too vague to mean much. A bunch of restart this, restart that, plug this into that, etc. I submitted a request that they actually offer detailed information about...

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

That is interesting. Wouldn't that mean the issue is related to your ISP's infrastructure? Unless you are doing some tunneling/IPsec/VPN/etc routing, you would not typically need to reduce your MTU below 1500 (that is the standard). As an end user of an ISP, having to do that might mean the ISP...

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

If it were the firmware, could we not expect to see it happening across the board? Perhaps there is some configuration option that is causing the problem. I don't know the stock firmware enough to know what the differences are in defaults and other options. If it really is something so esoteric...

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

I have four Roku devices on my network that are actively used for Netflix and other services every single day, w/ an RT-AC3200 running 384.6. They never have any trouble. Further, I run a pi-hole (blocks ads, telemetry, and other various things via domain blacklists), backed by a private OpenNIC...

    DNSSec question

It probably wouldn't be DNSSEC, because basically the only time that becomes relevant is when a domain is being forged.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

To clarify, those of us with working configurations using the "fast version" can leave it in place? However, I suppose, we'll be on our own to debug issues that may come from future firmware updates?

Roku Netflix problem on Merlin Firmware

There is no way to set a static IP address on the Roku itself. It has to be done via the DHCP server.

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Ah, I had been under the impression it was not doing that particularly well.
