My parents sent their 1.5 year old RT-AC88U in for warranty repair and......got a new one in return

We contacted Asus via their support number and obtained a case number. Then I submitted the router logs from the router menu attaching the case number so they would have it on file. I spend time on the phone with their tech who walked me through some steps during which the router failed...

My parents sent their 1.5 year old RT-AC88U in for warranty repair and......got a new one in return

They received the replacement today and it was sporting a firmware version that is not available on the support site but judging from the numbers its from sometime in early 2019. I flashed it to the current beta and loaded the settings back in (I keep them stored by firmware version). I ran...

My parents sent their 1.5 year old RT-AC88U in for warranty repair and......got a new one in return

Today Asus tech confirmed that the hardware is bad and its being RMA'd again. While on the phone with them the stupid thing just dropped out forcing me to reboot it. Hopefully the next replacement will function properly when we get it.

    Release New RT-AX88U firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

I'm still satisfied with this firmware and haven't had any issues with wireless clients as of yet. I also have it set to reboot on Sunday mornings like I always do just to clear things out and everything reconnects like normal. The phone utility works normally as well allowing me to connect to...

My parents sent their 1.5 year old RT-AC88U in for warranty repair and......got a new one in return

Man this thing has been disconnecting on us multiple times a day so it has to go back. I reinstalled my ax88u and put it back in its box. What are the odds of getting a dud right out of the box?

    Release RT-AC88U Version 3.0.0.4.386.41700

I just rolled back to 41700 after the router just glitches then drops the internet all together. Last night I observed core 2 running at 100% while my internet turned intermittent. If this keeps up it will go right back on rma and ax88u will come back out.

My parents sent their 1.5 year old RT-AC88U in for warranty repair and......got a new one in return

Now you would expect to hear about a lengthy repair time and lack of spare parts...all of which are true. However, Asus said that the repair was completed and returned a router to them. Well I say a router because it wasn't the repaired broken unit that they sent them rather it was a brand new...

    Release New AX88U Firmware v3.0.0.4.386.41700

I just took my new AX88U out of the box a short while ago and immediately updated to the current firmware so I don't have any time running it but I did have to manually tell the router to look for new firmware. Normally the yellow exclamation mark is blinking when my routers connect to the net...

    Release RT-AC88U Version 3.0.0.4.386.41700

Today while I was at work my 88u just stopped working. The lights said it was okay but nobody could connect to the net until I got home and soft cycled it. I'm not sure what to make of it but if it bites the dust my new ax88u will go up on the shelf. Edit: Today radios are down to almost no...

    Release RT-AC88U Version 3.0.0.4.386.41700

Ok the problem began when I tried updating to 3.0.0.4.386_41535 and the gui went crazy causing Xfinity to block my modem. I restored the previous firmware and once my modem was unblocked I was up and running but with a super slow 5ghz radio. I confirmed this again this morning by running...

    Release RT-AC88U Version 3.0.0.4.386.41700

After seeing that dismal throughput I went ahead and updated to 3.0.0.4.386_41700 and retested my 5ghz and this is what I got. Thank goodness the update fixed the radio issue.

    Release RT-AC88U Version 3.0.0.4.386.41700

For mine I've rolled back, reset it, reboot it, drained all the power out of it and let it sit and even tried moving the antennas around but no dice. I tried it again from my laptop today and it was turtle slow on 5g. See my speed tests between 2.4, the higher throughput, and 5ghz which has...

    Firmware 3.0.0.4.386_41535 AC88U

In the end Xfinity pushed a software update on my modem after I rolled back the firmware and all is good now. I will not try that firmware again. Just as soon as it tried to connect Xfinity threw up a walled garden and it was downhill from there.

Release RT-AC88U New Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.386.41535

The last thing the tech did was push a new software update on my modem after which it allowed my router with 631 installed to connect to the internet. I've never had a router firmware update do anything like this before to my ISP.
