    Yeah I prefer Tomato anyway. I recently got a free TPLink AX4400. It seems like it might still be supported by TPLink but they appear to operate with a 1 update per year rule.

    Is there an alternative firmware that's fairly secure and can keep these routers usable in a small business setting? I'm not a big fan of forced obsolescence of hardware that is totally capable of the task at hand. What are the feelings on on Tomato and DDWRT these days?

    Hi, I have an OpenVPN server running on an ASUS Merlin router with only LAN access but would like to have traffic to one external IP also go through this VPN connection. I tried adding a route (i.e. route 123.123.123.123 255.255.255.255 vpn_gateway) on the client but I can only access the IP...

    OpenVPN - can't connect to remote port 80

    Edit- I discovered the problem is related to tunnel MTU. I switched home Internet providers to a cellular based service and it looks like for a UDP OpenVPN tunnel to be fully functional the MTU needs to be 1452. Just setting it on the client side seems to be adequate.
