    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_49447 (2022/06/20)

I get this message for a Ubuntu wireless laptop now and a Galaxy S10 phone. The phone has the network set to un-metered. Ubuntu I can find no setting for that. Did not get this message before this firmware.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.95SF

I replaced all mine with the NetGear GSxxx switches with the metal casing. Lots out there.. my Dlink would lock up and the TPLink 5 port could not really do 1Gbit.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.95SF

After having speed problems with both a DLink and a TPLink switch I made it a rule not to buy cheap switches. Glad you were able to find the problem.

    R7800 went flakey

Id try all the above mentioned things first for sure. With the internet and working from home now Im finding the home router is last place I want to have problems.... Used 7800s can be found fairly cheap if need be...otherwise its not a bad area to invest some money in for peace of mind.

    Synology RT6600AX

Cool..specs aside I wonder how Synology support is. I was turned off from getting another Netgear due to the lack of support after 90 days.

Set up New ROG AX6000 (w/ RMerlin) but Not Getting Fast Wi-Fi Speeds. (Please Help)

Always possible the netgear is good and works well in your environment. It's too bad about netgear.. I found their older AC hardware good with good range..but their firmware and support awful.

Router upgrade - too much choice!

Tebor, The networking choices seem a lot that's for sure. For myself I have a small setup of cable modem, router and few switches.. very few devices. When I upgraded my service to gigabit it certainly showed my TPlink gigabit switch could not do gigabit ..and my old laptop really could...

Asuswrt-Merlin is now 10 years old!

Nice to look back on the history.. reminds me of the history of Unix and what it ran on. GT-AX6000...knew I should have brought that instead..

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.92SF

Without knowing anything it sounds like there is mac address conflict on the pfsense switch confusing it with the old and new R7800 APs you have? Can you disable the first original AP and see if the new one behaves on its own ?

How to improve Samba speed on Merlin 386.5 AX86U

Have you looked at samba performance tuning options ...block sizes and options? Maybe the defaults are conservative? Stumped how the reviews could get double though as they would never delve into the samba configs..

Asus Routers have always had unstable Wifi...my experience compared to Netgear

I thought you brought another netgear and solve all your problems?

Solved rt-ac68u ghost wifi channel 2,4Ghz

Firestick and Rokus with wifi direct are the worst..sometimes I can see a signal from them stronger than my wireles router. Like someone may want to change the TV show or run Netflix from outside on the street. Roku used to have a wifi setting where one could turn down the power but that...

    Unknown MAC Address in logs

On an ssid scan I found some Xbox controllers wifi direct appearing and disappearing. Maybe some sort of wifi direct device?

    ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 finally announced

So big... is it all plastic or the Should be ok if the wifi is a lot better. But from the smallnetbuilder testing I've seen in the past size does not necessarily mean it performs better. So wish all these were reviewed on smallnetbuilder as his tests have always been spot on..

Looking for Wifi6 and possible mesh

:( No way to run a cable from the basement anywhere? ie follow a pipe, up into a closet ? if you have a studded wall with the bottom above the basement you can drill a hole through through the bottom of the wall .. there is some minor sheet rock work after but it could get you the wired...

    Should I upgrade R7800 to RT-AX86U

I switched back to my R7800 as I had a cheap Hisense TV on the 5Ghz that kept restarting..i think it may not like the AX 5Ghz. I testing some areas like the back bedroom and my phone gets 350 Mbit with the R7800 vs 470 Mbit with AX86U. Other areas with my phone were similar..I gained about 100...

    Should I upgrade R7800 to RT-AX86U

Ok Im in the middle of doing just this. I had an Amazon gift card and Ive been working from home so I thought why not. My R7800 with Voxel Firmware has been flawless.. its on the lower level of a 2 story ranch style house..not too big..only the far upstairs bedroom struggles with the R7800...

We are soon to get faster than 1 gig internet

I think it depends how well run the isp is. For example my Altice isp is deploying fiber. But the fiber deployed on my street has not been turned for years..they say it's not available. Your best chance with docsis is to live in a large development with above ground wiring.
