    um... wired R7800 is about 30Mbps faster wireless is bit less of difference.. AC86U is 601 vs R7800 at 615. No doubt the R7800 is a great router (with Voxels firmware) and many of us are using it. For your use case for that far room off the extender you could pick up another 7800 used...

    Ok.. well my 7800 is working quite well with Voxels firmware. Thing is I would be hard pressed to get any other new Netgear router because the stock firmware is unsupported after 90 days. You didn't list which asus router ..rt-ac86 I assume? Maybe that router is having some hardware problem...

    Confused..are you measuring speed out to a site from the asus through the dlink and 7800? If you swap the asus and 7800 in your flow your saying it's faster?

    Disconnect the linksys router from everything and plug into it.. give your PC its own static IP using the IP range your recall from linksys. Then see if the PC can connect to the Linksys's known admin IP?

    I use this networx software https://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ on my linux laptop that probes the WAN port via UPnP. Unfortunately they no longer make it for linux. I can see my kid downloading an Xbox game can use 600Mbit/sec. A Netflix preview can burst my WAN to 60Mbit/sec...

    I'd probably flash to oem first and do a power cycle/reset... just because most people upgrade from that. Other may way in if its a direct flash is ok.
