Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 beta is now available

I bet you didn't have a cooling fan. When my device was about a year old, I drilled a 40 mm hole in the back and mounted a 40 mm usb powered fan. Now cpu temperature is max 65 degrees (and less than 60 degrees most of the time). I think it can run forever.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 beta is now available

I think I speak on behalf of most of us, when I say: We're not in a hurry. The current firmware runs fine, and if this firmware is going to be the last, the important thing is that it's bug free. I personally plan to run this FOR YEARS - nothing can kill my old RT-AC68U. So @Merlin: Just take...

ANNOUNCEMENT: Asuswrt-Merlin support underway for 3 Wifi 7 routers

Does that mean that if we (in Europe) install the 'official' Merlin firmware from this site, then we won't get 6 Ghx bands?

Did I brick my AC68U with the 386.7_2 merlin fw?

I think the problem is that you rebooted too soon after upgrade. I also have my good old AC68U running 386.7_2 . When I have upgraded, I always go into the router webpage and check the CPU usage. Once (can't remember when) it stayed at about 80% for half an hour, then went down to normal (a few...

    Uptime 521 days 1 hour(s) 28 minute(s) 7 seconds

That old RT-AC68U is fantastic. I don't do uptime contents, but my uptime is almost always the time since last firmware release.

Set hostname with . and : on static ip list

You can write a domain name, that applies to all your lan devices. Choose the 'Lan-Ip' tab and set the router's domain name. You can still access devices using only their computer name, but you can also use 'computer.domain'.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

Oh man, 'fd3e:4f5a:5b81::1' is an ULA address (similar to local ip addresses in ipv4). That's BAD! An internet dns lookup should never resolve to to an ULA address, that's correctly marked as a 'DNS rebind attack' by the router. What is Microsoft doing here? Or is it ASUS? It's definitely wrong.

Does a daily reboot wear the flash memory faster?

Read this, apparently nothing bad happens: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/the-uptime-contest.62711/

WPS not working stuck on 'Connection Status: Idle'

I have exactly the same problem. I just changed the wifi key and wanted to connect my Huawei phone again. I have also tried all the combinations I can find (buttons and pins - rebooted several times). On my phone several networks display as: 'Network name' (WPS is available) However for my...

That's because there IS anew version available, namely version 386.2_4, simple as that.

Because typing WPA keys on a smartphone usually sucks

Because typing WPA keys on a smartphone usually sucks

What a great idea for phones, now I only need a way to do it on my internet radio  (no camera)

Windows 10 will implement DNS DoH in version 21H1

I guess, the reason why Google wants this is so that they can hardcode their own servers (and bypass any system DNS settings), hereby know EVERYTHING you're doing.

Windows 10 will implement DNS DoH in version 21H1

Just found out that Microsoft will implement DNS DoH in the 21H1 version, coming spring 2021. Read more about it here: What’s New in Windows 10’s 21H1 Update, Coming Spring 2021

Updated FW to AC68U_384.19, Radio Temperatures = Disabled?

Also on RT-AC68U and 384.19. I see temperatures on 5 GHz (I have disabled the 2.4GHz radio). Where do you look? Under 'Administration', 'Temperatures' ? I also have temperatures under 'Tools'.

    Ipv6 Firewall Settings.

Try: https://test-ipv6.com instead, if you get 10/10, you're good to go.

    Ipv6 Firewall Settings.

That site only tests for remote PING! Ping is no more important to ipv6 as it is for ipv4, so the result should be ignored, getting 17/20 is perfect (reverse dns lookup is also stupid to test, since Windows uses the TEMPORARY ipv6 adress to connect to internet). If you want 19/20 (for testing)...

    Asus RT-AX88U 160GHZ issue

The router will always switch to channel 36, when it detects a radar signal on the higher frequences. Then it stays there.

    IPv6 connection type

I suggest you simply try the different options until one is working. Since you connect to the WebUI via ipv4, you can still connect even when ipv6 doesn't work.
