OpenVPN client/server - reverse routing relationship?

It certainly looks like it should, but it does not. When I add the user, then SSH to the router, I can see the subnet is being added to the routing tables, with the next hop being the 68 end of the tunnel. However, still no connectivity. Even more telling, when SSH to the router, I can ping...

ASUS Router to Router OpenVPN - need routing assistance - RESOLVED

I've been digging further into it. I'm thinking if I set "push LAN to clients" to "no" on the server side, it will prevent the 68 from being able to route to devices on the 87. From there, I could add push "route 192.168.227.250 255.255.255.255" on the 87 server, so devices on the 68 LAN can...

OpenVPN client/server - reverse routing relationship?

I've been trying to understand the flow of information from GUI to the underlying OpenVPN client and server but really, not making much progress. At this point, it seems like I might be able to brute-force my approach by turning off "push LAN to clients" and add a targeted route, via push, to...

Adaptive Qos with VPN client - Download registers as Upload

I am very hesitant to do this now that the routers are in service. As in your home, network disruptions have very low SAQ*. I am also wrestling with a VPN configuration challenge. When I posted, I had both routers in the same location, on two different WAN connections. Now, one is halfway...

ASUS Router to Router OpenVPN - need routing assistance - RESOLVED

I am not sure whether this post belongs in the ASUS-merlin subforum or the VPN. I put the same post in the wrt-merlin subform., so moderators please delete or link posts as is in compliance with forum rules. I have successfully set up an OpenVPN client from an AC68U client to an AC87U...

OpenVPN client/server - reverse routing relationship?

I have successfully set up an OpenVPN client from an AC68U client to an AC87U server, both running 380.69. Everything works as expected - AC68U LAN devices can access devices on the AC87U's LAN. I am forced to create the VPN in this direction because the AC68U is behind a double-NAT. HOWEVER...

    Access control lists?

I am setting up a VPN from a less secure location to one that's a bit more sensitive. I initially planned to go the other way but a double-NAT at the remote end forces this configuration. I need to limit traffic from the less-secure location with the VPN client, restricting to a single IP...

End of year 2017 development update

I'm new to the community, having just discovered this great project when hacking together a VPN. I am deeply impressed with the thoughtful improvements over ASUS' already-great code base. Please accept this n00b's thanks and appreciation for your work. Best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2018!

Adaptive Qos with VPN client - Download registers as Upload

I'm seeing a similar inversion of download vs upload on an AC68 running 380.69. In my AC68 device, QoS is not enabled. However, the traffic graph displays packets being received by the VPN server process are shown as upload. This same inversion cascades down to the utilization bars for...

Possible bug, or n00b error - upload vs download

Hi Jack, It looks like a similar problem, however, QoS is disabled on the AC68, where the issue is seen. QoS is enabled on the AC87, but that displays as expected. If there's a moderator reading, maybe we should combine this thread with the thread mentioned above. Doug

Possible bug, or n00b error - upload vs download

I have installed merlin 380.69 on an AC87U and an AC68U. There's an OpenVPN tunnel between these routers, and file servers that back up periodically from the AC87 side to the AC68 side. During a backup, I expected to see the QoS WAN/LAN bandwidth monitor page's upload bandwidth on the AC87 be...
