    Looking for single stream AP

Good thought. The older Pi's with built in WiFi are single stream b/g/n. I need AC. The Pi 4 is dual-stream. Does your distro really allow control of # of MIMO streams?

    Looking for single stream AP

Thanks. Needs to be 2.4 and 5. And need it to be in current production.

    Looking for single stream AP

@Yota Thanks for checking. I'm not surprised the commands don't work. I mean, who wants to reduce a multi-antenna AP to a single one? :)

    Looking for single stream AP

Near as I can tell, it's two stream.

    Looking for single stream AP

Sorry, misunderstood you. I've been looking, but even cheapo travel routers are two stream.

    Looking for single stream AP

It doesn't have to be switchable. But you can't just take one antenna off a two antenna AP. It will still be configured for two streams and the ranging algorithm will get messed up.

    Looking for single stream AP

I'm looking for a small, cheap AP or router that can be switched into single stream, i.e. one antenna, operation. I suspect there is nothing that does this with factory firmware. So second question is does anyone know of alternate firmware that enables control of # of antennas/streams used.

How long will 802.11n be supported by router makers?

N is used on the 2.4 GHz band for AC products. It's also cheaper to produce and has lower power consumption. B/G are supported for backward compatibility with older devices. There has been talk of ending B support, but no manufacturer has pulled the trigger on that. AFAIK, the 802.11 standard...

I still own this Forum. That also may be changing.

    Incorrect link

Yes. The site has been a zombie for going on 2 years now. So I transferred ownership to a colleague I've known for years. He is going to see if he can make some money from it.

Sorry about that. I no longer own SmallNetBuilder. I suggest you use the comment feature on the site.

    NAS lifespan

Most anything will do as long as it supports the power load. I've used a lot of APCs in the past. But my home was in an area that lost power a lot. And the lower-end APCs don't handle the imperfect sine wave put out by a generator. They would keep tripping over to running on battery, which would...

    NAS lifespan

I hope you have your NAS on a UPS. Even if you don't get power failures, it helps protect against power spikes and surges much better than an outlet surge protector. And I hope you have backup. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/real-life-example-of-raid-is-not-a-backup.7802/

    What you should buy?

@Tech9, @L&LD You two have been on my last nerve for some time now. Your active and passive aggression drive away people new to the forum and annoy many long time contributors. I appreciate the many contributions both of you have made to SNBForums, but it's coming at too high a price. I want...

    What you should buy?

Before you and @Tech9 get into your usual matching contest, please be specific. Your comment is too cryptic.

Skynet Show Country Names instead of Codes?

It's not up to you to say what is allowed on these forums. That said, I think you and others have made your opinions clear on the value of country code blocking. This thread was opened with this: "It would be nice if the country codes in Skynet graphs could be the names of the actual...

    Build A Wi-Fi Performance Analyzer For $75

This is an oldie at this point, so the project is unbuildable as it is. Check out https://www.wlanpi.com/

    ipad 2022 wifi6 support

AFAIK, Apple does not support 160 MHz bandwidth in 5 GHz. It doesn't support 40 MHz bandwidth in 2.4 GHz, either.
