ASUS RT-AC87U stepped into the 382 branch :D

Just found out ASUS RT-AC87U received a 382 branch update. A hefty one in fact with lots of big fixes. Does this mean we'll in very near future see RT-AC87U moving from Legacy to the current branch? Can't wait coz I really like the work Merlin has done to the ASUS routers. :)

    RT-AC87R AC2400 Random Reboots

I don't. I got 1x PC, 2x laptop, 1x SmartTV and 1x IPTV setup box. I don't use any "assistants". I've gone back to stock ASUS firmware and haven't had a single reboot for couple of days now...

    RT-AC87R AC2400 Random Reboots

Two damn reboots in 1 day. Went back to stock latest ASUS for RT-AC87U and its doing the same thing. What the frigging hell?! This is annoying as hell. Want to do something on my latop and the damn net disappears and then I have to wait like 2 minutes for it to come back online.

    RT-AC87R AC2400 Random Reboots

Can I assume that the fix for this reboot will arrive in an update post 380.69 ? I'm not in a mood to install a test firmware...

    RT-AC87R AC2400 Random Reboots

I'm experiencing the same with RT-AC87U. I have my IPTV routed through and it just hanged twice so far. Once happened while I was on a PC.

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

avast! or AVG (they are now built on same codebase), beta or final builds, it doesn't matter. I cannot test with "older" builds because online installer always downloads latest data. So, it's just that always. I've also gone through lengthy process of logging installation process with avast...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

I was speaking about the legal issues in terms of potentially damaged hardware because of overclocking, not what the process itself is based on or if it's legal from your perspective as a dev.

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

You mean, like in avast!'s case where it took me freaking days of fiddling and testing to finally figure out it's router doing it? Which made me wonder what else was getting blocked in a similar way and I didn't even know it was happening, just thought my ISP service was "slow" or something...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

Yeah, but this isn't ASUS's official firmware. So, that's irrelevant.

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

So, instead of finding out what's causing this weird problem, we should just wipe the crap under the rug and call it a day. At which point, I'm wondering what else is getting blocked and I don't even know it since it has no progress bars, it just takes days to perform behind the scenes... That's...

Add Quad 9 to the list of DNS providers in AiProtection

And what would be the harm of adding it on the list? If stupid Comodo is on it, why can't be this one which is far more reliable?

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

Ok, I've been testing this whole morning and I think I found the last version that worked fine was 380.66. Both progress bars went relatively fast, well within expected time. All the newer versions seemed to take very long. Faster than usual, but still significantly longer than with this one or...

Add Quad 9 to the list of DNS providers in AiProtection

I've recently found about a new secure DNS service similar to OpenDNS that is dedicated to secure resolving and also malware/phishing protection. It has a DNS address of 9.9.9.9 (Fully secured) and 9.9.9.10 (this one is without ANY filtering or security measures, meant for testing only!)...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

DD-WRT has overclocking bult-in, but it's rather crap as it's not very stable by itself, let alone with overclocking. And the fact you can't make it go stealthy without LED's is a huge NO NO. Would be nice if we could OC easily via a menu and not by fiddling with scripts...

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

Btw, even when initial progress bar above taskbar goes fast, opening avast! interface son after and checking the "Avast installation is finishing" the thing gets stuck at 33% and stays there for ages. And it takes forever to complete this. I just went back to Merlin 380.69 build and it's doing...

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

If just one can confirm for RT-AC87U specifically, it means something is wrong with this particular version. I also have AiProtection enabled in stock ASUS firmware, but it works fine. And so did with ALL Merlin builds before the summer. I'm certain of that. But after summer, I have no clue...

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

I tried disabling that too with no effect. Not sure what changed in last 2-3 builds that cause this.

Recent RT-AC87U firmwares make avast! installations absurdly long

Took me ages to test this one out, but from the looks of it, I've finally narrowed it down. Now I need the Merlin wizard to figure it out what's causing this exactly... DESCRIPTION: When installing avast! antivirus on a system that is connected to internet through ASUS RT-AC87U using 380.69...

    miniupnpd configuration: internal/external ports reversed?

UPNP doesn't work for me for quite a while, but I got VDSL2 changed for FTTH and I'm unsure if firmware is broken or something changed on my connection. For example, if I enable UPNP in eMule, it fails to use it every single time like it can't set it up even though it's correctly enabled on...

    380.66_6 incredibly unstable on RT-AC87U

I don't know what's the reason, but every time I use eMule or Bitlord (it gets even worse when I use them together at once), router just keeps dying. It reboots by itself (which I can see by its low uptime time), but it's still unwanted behavior. And it often just dies even without any P2P...
