RT AX92U firmware upgrade drops connections frequently

Thanks for the suggestions. Yesterday I did the factory reset and then re-added the unit back to my mesh as a 4th node. Seems to be working fine now, though I’ll monitor for a bit before I declare victory… I decided not to roll the firmware back…

RT AX92U firmware upgrade drops connections frequently

Yeah, one of my 92u mesh nodes has been dropping in and out since the upgrade. My kids were asking me what’s going on with the WiFi and when I looked at the topography on the app I could see the node go offline and then come back. I ended up taking that node out of the mesh network for now and...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.22068

Yeah, just updated to the new firmware myself. Upload speed is quite a bit faster over WiFi. Not sure if that’s something they are working on, but I thought I read the firmware didn’t play nice with Fios upload speeds…

    Should I get tri-band routers?

What internet speed does your service provide/do you pay for? Like others have said, if it’s high enough, dual band may be sufficient. If not, a triband router may make sense. I have a pair of the AX 92us in my mesh setup as nodes. They work just fine as nodes now and previously when I used them...

    Best router asus for wifi

My personal opinion is not to overpay for stuff unless it’s something really important. The ax 86u is a very good router as well. I use it as my router in a mesh setup for a 500 Mbps fiber service at my place. That being said, you’ll have to decide if the extra cost is worth it…

    Best router asus for wifi

Okay, based on your responses the GT-AX6000 seems like a solid option. I’m basing that on range as the primary concern…

Other considerations. Is there a limit you want to spend? How do you use your internet? Gaming, streaming, WFH?

Trying Dual Wan - Failover only

Thanks for all of the feedback. I’ll think about some tests that don’t involve unplugging the cables. I don’t really have some great need to have near instantaneous failover. Like many here, I just like to learn and try new things. My thinking here is that 5g home internet connections may not...

Trying Dual Wan - Failover only

Two days ago I set up dual wan on my AX 92u, utilizing the failover feature with auto switchback. I’m using T-Mobile HI gateway as the primary isp input and Fios as the standby. seems to be working correctly after two tests, both where I would unplug the primary isp wan cable to see how long it...

    T-Mobile 5g Home Internet Issues

I’m new to the service as well. I use Gmail and Hotmail accounts and have no issues with them. Maybe unique to Comcast Email? I’ve been tweaking the location and orientation a bit and have been seeing download speeds in the 600 and 700 Mbps range today.. just ran a speed test at 5:55 PM and...

Asus RT-AX58U Merlin & Tmobile Home Internet

You’re probably right. Played with placement today and found that raising the height 2 feet and slightly Turing the modem yields over 640 Mbps down. I’m still in shock over the speeds. Just want to see the consistency before I drop my current provider…

Asus RT-AX58U Merlin & Tmobile Home Internet

I just started the service 2 days ago. Really just experimenting with this for fun. So far, I’m impressed. I’m getting 550Mbps download speed pretty consistently and about 30 Mbps up. Ping about 30 ms. I’m about 1 mile from a tower with 5G ultra capacity, so I think I’m in an ideal situation…...

    3.0.0.4.386_45934-gb23bdac on 66U B1 breaks Guest network

Not having that issue, but none of my WiFi 6 clients are connecting via WiFi 6 (5_2) after the update (they are connecting via 5_1 which is the trad AC radio). I have the 92u mesh setup and it seems to be stable but for this new development…

Are these ping times normal for bonded MoCa 2.0?

I’ve noticed the slight lag in my moca 2.5 setup as well, but it’s about trade offs. I love having the wired back haul, so not a big deal and we’ll worth it…

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I simply used the App‘s firmware upgrade feature on my IPad. I’ve upgraded the firmware that way each time with good success. No crashes since upgrading to this firmware, with a little over 3 days uptime. I have my routers set to reboot 2x per week overnight, with the latest being Wednesday...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I updated to the new version this AM. Seems to be working normally. I have 2 AX92U and 1 older AC68U in a mesh. Has been very stable as a set-up for my family and I’m very happy with the equipment. I run 1 92U as the router connected to the Verizon ONT and the have the other 2 wired backhaul...
