Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

In the past 7 days in an effort to get to where I can sell the 6000s, I've ordered 2 x RT-AXE7800s and another 2-pack of ET8s - all of which got boxed back up and returned w/in 24hrs. The 7800s because all bands are locked on wifi 6 w/ no option to disable making these a non-starter for 2.4 IoT...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

That's right. The engineers at ASUS must be offended by anyone not running the latest FW they worked so hard on, and assume anyone downgrading must be a technical/security idiot, so dummy-proofing is justified.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

That model is a dud IMO. I doubt it will ever get Merlin support. Bought 2 of em, and started the return process less than 24 hours after delivery cuz you can't turn wifi 6 mode off for any of the lower bands like you can with every other ASUS 6E. 600$ and all we could connect were two brand new...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

...except maybe ASUS ought to consider whether or not the unit is being used in router mode vs just AP before pulling any crap like that. I could see it justified (sorta) for the former. I'm currently being very entertained watching my signal strength go up and down by the minute.

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

Despite the "Auto upgrade button" on both spiders definitely being set to "Off", I did just notice the following in the boot logs - however my first assumption is it's just the 'check' where you get that annoying, beeping icon indicating a new FW is available. But if not, then pls let me know...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

My wife seriously came close to replacing me after these last 24 hours.

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

Yeah, same with the Linksys ACS and its infamous persistent partition I still have which is why I went crazy with the multiple alternating flashes and resets. The 6000 really is a one-off as far as ASUS' router engineering series goes, so it wouldn't surprise me if that model does have some sort...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

That was a stone I did turn over. We are all on Macs only so installed bootcamp Windows just to try flashing that way before immediately deleting it.

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

One of the 6000s predated the OPNsense box and was used in router mode for about 5 or 6 months. The second one I picked up a couple months before building that box for less than $200usd during one of those half day crazy Amazon flash sales. Will definitely check out the spec sheets for from your...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

Didn't really see the point in trying this month's update after the wonderful experience of last month's (sarcasm). But yeah, I've been resetting badly behaving electronics since I inherited my dad's Osborne II - roughly around the same time the Woz was still chief engineer at Apple. I did...

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

Yup. ...and it's even "snapping back" to 388 without any connectivity whatsoever.

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

...at least I got a good laugh at all the "similar threads" of people mentioning they are at "their wits end" in their titles - except none of them had the same issue beyond ASUS causing them to lose their minds in minds over something else.

Unable to downgrade firmware on GT-AX6000s - I'm at my wits end.

I've scoured the forums here, searched endlessly on Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, Reddit and everywhere else I could think of and found no mention of the issue I'm experiencing with these two GT-AX6000s that I'm about 10 minutes away from smashing into a million shards of plastic. Please forgive...

    Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 (2023/05/12)

No thanks. After such an awful experience with constant wifi drops in the April update, and no mention of any stability fixes, I'm not gonna even bother. Just downgraded to 386 as my "new firmware release", and finally enjoying some free time not trying to reconnect 50+ devices. ...please...

Is this micro firewall appliance on Amazon TGTBT???

Damn, one of my spare laptops died, so I was gonna get one these $130 Qotoms, and poof - looks like they sold out whatever supply Amazon had.

Is this micro firewall appliance on Amazon TGTBT???

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B55XKCZY/?tag=snbforums-20 So a couple days ago I posted about a barebones micro firewall appliance with a J4125 Intel CPU and 4 x 2.5gb Intel NICs I thought was a good deal on Amazon at around $200 which I purchased myself. Now I'm seeing the above from QOTOM with...

amtm dos2unix: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Hah! I was just reinstalling various Entware packages including dos2unix today, and right after, AMTM started barking that error mssg.

Great OPNsense/pfSense mini PC with 4 x 2.5gb Intel NICs for just over $200usd on Amazon

Yes. It's definitely one of the negatives for all of those firewall appliance "mini pc's", not just the Vnopn brand. Run an IDS that stresses the CPU, and the box will scald your hand. The heat sinks are inadequate IMO, and excessive heat causes premature aging of the chips and eventual failure...
