RT-AX86U PRO owners, experience thus far?

Not sure about the other 'Pro' features, but vlans are definitely a production feature as AIMesh makes heavy use of them behind the scene to extend the first guest wlan to satellite nodes. It's the GUI support for vlan configuration that is in early beta / late alpha status. I've been through...

RT-AX86U PRO owners, experience thus far?

Assuming you are familiar with SSH, the commands to attach two tagged vlans to physical port 1 or port 4 depending on how that model of router maps ports to logical interfaces is pretty much just the following few lines of code in a startup script. Just isolating ports to different subnets...

RT-AX86U PRO owners, experience thus far?

99.9999% of home router users to be more exact. I was sure OP was in that .00001% of home power users. Glad to be set straight by another 'part of the furniture'.

RT-AX86U PRO owners, experience thus far?

That box supports tagged vlans if you don't mind configuration via SSH CLI. I had them running on the cheepo version (RT-AX86S). GUI support probably won't be for a few more months at least, but that model will be one of the first to get GUI support. If you do get it, get it from the ASUS...

Where does it store the WebUI certificate

If you are looking for parameters entered via the web GUI, you'll want to 'inspect' the html source code for 'name' attribute for the parameter entry field, and then ssh into the router and do something like username$ nvram show | egrep 'key|cert|crt' where the terms between the ' 's would...

Has anyone successfully create a VLAN?

I can't speak for your particular flavor of ASUS, but I've got tagged vlans including multi-tagged trunk ports running on my dual gt-ax6000s for sandboxing my IoT crap, and multiple ASUS routers do support vlans as they are used to extend the first guest wifi to AiMesh nodes. I have no idea why...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Yes, I have learned that about ASUS's version of 'mesh' - that it is no more than a way to manage multiple routers and APs by managing just one. Other systems I've used like Eero defne 'mesh' as much more aggressive AFA active handoff between nodes included.

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Right. Why they don't just use 101/102 for the tags as well is beyond me.

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

The way I understand the "marketing term" is that it implies an active handoff system to the node with the best signal, whereas in simple AP mode the connections to any particular AP will be more persistent despite fair to poor signal. The last thing I'd want to do is get into a 'semantics'...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Also have 2 GT-AX6000s that I tried configuring as an AiMesh setup. I can confirm failure with the 2.5gb ports vs the 1gb ports when attempting wired backhaul. Could not maintain a stable connection for more than 24 hours. My solution was to go with AP mode for the second ax6000 and create a...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

    Actually it's 501/502 not 101/102 for AiMesh.

Add Additional LAN IPs to Router?

No its a typo I found a while ago as well that broke stuff. I must have copied this from an old backup. Please use 168 or bad things may happen ;)

Add Additional LAN IPs to Router?

Absolutely. I define multiple subnets/vlans on mine for various purposes. You should be able to use ifconfig or ip commands to add separate IPs to separate physical interfaces. If that doesn't work you can use brctl to add additional interface bridges, add the IPs to each bridge and then add a...

Can anyone tell me why the FW build I attempted for a GT-AX6000 tanked?

So I've made a couple attempts at a successful FW compile for the GT-AX6000. This last attempt was with the 388.1` branch in Multipass Ubuntu (focal) on an Intel Mac. The first 4 errors are very cryptic. i thought I had gotten all the typos out and right deps in, and the build ran for well over...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Yeah, certainly aware. All my problems were with a direct connection between the ax6000s. Since the other is now in AP mode I'm just doing LACP directly between them for 2Gb wired backhaul. The 2.5gb switch ports are going from the top level router to the 2.5gb ports on two Eero 6Es and two...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Yep, got the 5 port TrendNet. Locked up twice the first 48 hours. But now that I'm keeping that switch, the gt-ax6000s and anything else that gets above 120ºf on top a nice cool air filter they haven't crashed since.

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/gt-ax6000-as-aimesh-node.79468/ Now I remember. It's likely some issue related to using the 2.5gb ports for the wired backhaul.

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

Oh, I left no stone unturned in my efforts. My AiMesh setup was very stable before I swapped the rt-ax86s for the 2nd ax6000. I'm happy enough with it in AP mode for now. In the meantime I'm no longer reading any more DongKnows blogs...

    GT-AX6000 Node - 2.5Gbps LAN issue

I also own dual GT-AX6000s plus a 2.5gbs switch. But I can't even get them to pair in AiMesh mode in any sort of stable fashion after trying every suggestion on SNB and DongKnows. Took about 10 attempts just to get them to pair. Then when the node disappeared after 2 days I gave up since nothing...
