    3.0.0.4.374.130

Are you able to reach max data transfer rate pretty quickly? Or do you also have to wait 15 minutes? If your max data transfer rate over a network is 31 megabytes/second, that's a bit slow (unless your bottleneck is a hard drive) and translates to 248 Mbps. That's certainly a far cry from a...

    3.0.0.4.374.130

None of this makes a difference. The link rate does actually reflect data transfer rate, in my case, and the link rate on 5 Ghz drops over time with a USB-AC53. Setting a fixed channel does not make a difference. I'm now starting to wonder whether my RT-AC66U isn't defective, but if it is, then...

    ASUS RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.372

Wow, that's kind of interesting. I wonder if it's a clue for the cause. Mine also drops to 175.5. I don't want to use the RT-AC66U as an access point though.

    ASUS RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.372

This firmware doesn't resolve data rate/link rate dropping after a day or so on 5Ghz with an USB-AC53 wireless adapter.

Do you feel Asus has abandoned support for the AC66U?

I wouldn't be so sure. One rep claims not to be able to reproduce the problem. In fact, this representative went so far as to suggest ISP congestion, despite the fact this issue has nothing to do with ISPs.

Do you feel Asus has abandoned support for the AC66U?

Well, you're not using an AC adapter either. And while it probably doesn't matter, I'm also running Windows 8 x64 Pro. I just updated the driver for a USB-AC53. No difference. The only thing that works is clicking apply or rebooting the router.

    5Ghz not working

Are you sure Asus is aware of this issue? I've been in contact with a "Jeremy T." from Asus, and he claims not to be able to reproduce this issue. As such, I'm not sure Asus is even acknowledging that an issue exists.

Do you feel Asus has abandoned support for the AC66U?

Rather, I strongly suspect you don't have a wireless AC adapter, used it on the second floor of a house (a floor removed from the RT-AC66U) and watched data rate/link rate drop using the Asus utility on the 5Ghz network after several days. I've reproduced this now on two different RT-AC66U...

    5 GHz Signal Strength Drop

If you're talking about link rate dropping, then, no, that doesn't help.

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

So, I reset my router, and manually re-entered everything. Didn't help. For those telling me to do this, do you have an AC network card or AC wireless adapter? And are you hibernating your systems, and then turning them back on hours later? This situation really defeats the purpose of buying...

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

Link rate File transfer rate does drop.

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

:( I have a ton of MAC addresses and IPs I would need to re-enter. Plus portforwarding stuff. Can I reset and then upload settings instead?

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

Well, that's disappointing. Thanks to everyone for the info!

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

Yes, same problem I get the same when I'm in the same room with the router. But right now my computer is on the second floor of the house while the router is on the main floor. After I hibernate my computer, and then turn it back on, the link rate drops. No issues at 2.4Ghz, but that's not...

AC 5ghz connection drops to 176 Mbps from 527 Mbps after 24hrs

RT-AC66U is using firmware 3.0.0.4.354 (main floor of house). USB-AC53 (second floor of house) is connecting to channel 149. Full signal bars are showing. Wireless mode is N only. Channel bandwidth is 80 Mhz Tx Power is 120 mW. Initially the USB-AC53 connects at 527 Mbps, and stays that way...

Nope, but thanks for the link.

Ports 135 and 445 closed but not stealthed?

Interesting. Yeah, I think they do filter 135. I didn't know about 445. I'll look into it. Thank you very much

Ports 135 and 445 closed but not stealthed?

Hi, According to https://www.grc.com my RT-AC66U is showing ports 135 and 445 as being closed but not stealthed. AI Cloud is off. USB applications are off. Firewall is enabled. I'm using firmware 3.0.0.4.354. I am port forwarding, but not these specific ports: Port 135 Name: dcom-scm...

3.0.0.4.188 for Asus RT-AC66u is Out

Well, this firmware version doesn't cause tons of wireless download problems when QoS is enabled, at least. So, I'll be sticking with this firmware for now. I'm not using a UPnP server with Broadcast support enabled in VPN, so I can't comment on that issue. Under TX Power, it now states: "FCC...
