    Help setting NAS

With a single HD you can't do any raid at all. Basically you have a very smart external hard drive. If I recall, when you install a second hard drive the NAS OS will ask you if you want to setup raid 1 or just a second disk. I would setup raid 1. When you install a third HD you will be given a...

    Log Levels

Anyone have a good definition of the different log levels in 380.65? I don't understand the relationship between (Under Admin/System): 1) Default message log level (currently "notice") 2) Log only messages more urgent than (was "debug" but I just changed to "info" to see what changes) My log...

    Hard Drive Or Nas Suggestion

Don't worry about memory...expanded memory on a NAS is mainly to run VMware virtual machines. Many NAS units run great on 256 and 512megs of RAM. Sure, more RAM allows for more simultaneous users but if you are not in an enterprise environment it is not a concern at all. QNAP generally has more...

    Hard Drive Or Nas Suggestion

I've been using a 2 drive Synology for years...it's phenomenal. Very robust device. The 2 disk units are not that expensive. If you want, start with one disk and then add the second one when you can afford it to get Raid 1 redundancy. This is one of the best technology investments I've ever...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

That's the one...where it goes from the logon page to somewhere else other than the index page. Sometimes it goes to the temperature page as well. Also found core 2 at 100% and reboot at top of screen didn't reboot 68U...had to power cycle.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

I see the same thing...started with 380.65. What seems to be happening is that we are logged and we never stop at the index page...we land somewhere else. I can't find a way to reproduce the issue. At least 3 of us have mentioned this issue and we all are using Firefox so that might be the...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

Iwoods, you should have a look at http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/. Look at features, screenshots, and under documentation the changelog. Just my opinion, the Asus firmware is buggy and is generally not kept up to date. Merlin's variant is based on the Asus code but is kept up to date and is much...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

It's not. The router turn on what it can depending on options selected. For example, it I turn all options off (QoS, Traffic Statistics, etc) and reboot I get both CTF and FA on my 68U B1. If I turn on Traffic Statistics and then reboot I just get CTF which works much better but as mentioned...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

CTF (Cut-through Forwarding) begins to forward the packet before it is fully received...it is responsible for almost all of the higher speeds needed for fast WAN connections. FA (Flow Acceleration) seems to bypass the CPU in the process thus trying to further increase the speed. On my 68U flow...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

But WHAT is enabled...CTF, FA, or both???

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

Not sure that's it as I do get logged in...when it goes to the wrong URL I type the routers IP address (192.169.1.1) and I will get to the indexmain screen. So login is working. I can try clearing cache/passwords in the morning but don't think that is it

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

U rebooted and re-formatted the JFFS partition. Worked fine for 3-4 sing ins and then the router went here: http://192.168.1.1/update_networkmapd.asp and showed: fromNetworkmapd = '<0>Margos-MBPro>192.168.1.201>68:5B...xxxxxx....'.replace(/>/g, ">").replace(/</g, "<").split('<'); I deleted the...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

My AC-68U has just started to behave a bit erratically when logging in. After entering the user name and password and clicking Sign In, the router goes to the wrong URL. It goes to http://192.168.1.1/ajax_coretmp.asp and shows : curr_coreTmp_2_raw = "46°C"; curr_coreTmp_2 =...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

You want to stick to channels 1, 6, or 11. In the graph above channel 1 looks best. Also in this crowded spectrum a width of 20 might be best...you can do speedtests with width of 20 and 40 to be sure.

    Unable to check for updates

Hmm, I still had the same IP address from my ISP. Regardless, I got rid of the Untangle router and switched back to my trusty 68U...was just an exploratory exercise.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 is now available

Running a RT-AC-68U and update installed perfectly. Only oddity I see has been mentioned before...the signature check fails. It is at 1.110 and when checking it just reports "Signature update failed"

    Unable to check for updates

Problem began when I tried Untangle UTM as the router. Not sure why the system was blocking access...it never even showed the attempt to reach the update server but along with other weirdness I have since made the 68U the router again...now the update server is visible once again. Thanks for the...
