    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 Beta 1 is out

AC66R Reset Updated RT-AC66R from 378.50 and 2.4ghz band was unstable with slow downloads, hung uploads and just flakey in general. Mostly testing to various speedtest sites. Some would download fast at times but totally hang at upload and time out. Sometimes only like 1-2 mbps on a 500+...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

One thing that jumps out is the items in bold above. You wouldn't want to reload your old config as that totally defeats the purpose of factory default reset. It effectively makes it such that you never reset in the first place.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Would you say the same for the AC66R? Seeing that its based on same box and is a little older now.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

@L&LD, Interesting read. I too use inssider and Ch 1 would seem to be the best according to it, however no matter what I always come back to ch 11 and have the best results. I am in a residential neighborhood with a ton of wifi networks (one of which has main and guest network on 40mhz stepping...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

On the subject about the same SSID for both, some say its best others say not. There was an interesting info from an ex Apple engineer that recommended setting them the same. The devices will then select the best band (not just based on the highest RSSI but best connection/rate/throughput) for...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Have a look here (including beta 1 & 2), http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/changelog . Not to mention whatever changes ASUS made in their 378_4129 code. Pretty long list but of course all this does not effect the AC66.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Could it be a heat problem? Maybe its getting hot and resetting. Also I have had a few strange issues after flashing a few times in that speeds super slow and wireless AC stuck at 2.4 N speeds. Connecting via telnet and clearing nvram via "mtd-erase -d nvram" is the only way I have been able to...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Just on the N66? What about AC66? I understand the FCC lower power requirements was the root cause after 374.xx revisions. I would assume it effects all, no?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Not a bug. The MAC filtering is a common option now for both bands. No more separate 2.4/5G option. There is info about this somewhere. ASUS implemented that in latest release.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

For the record I have seen no issues getting downloads via Mediafire. We are talking 27-37MB files here. Perhaps its time of day or country of origin but in reality it shouldn't be a big deal to wait a few minutes to get this awesome firmware without having to sign up for an account and deal...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Not the wizard either but as I understand it anything past 374.x dropped the power to 80mW per FCC regulations. So starting with 376.x that was implemented by ASUS.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

I would say just wait a bit. 378.50 is currently in beta so probably released soon. If its been 12 months a little longer wont hurt. Otherwise 376.49_5 is the latest stable release. If you are comfortable with beta firmware 378.50 beta 2 is available now. And yes a reset would be required...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

John just an update, after much fooling around and applying Merlin 376_49_5 and back to ASUS stock 3754 and still no resolution I applied Merlins 378_50 beta2 tonite and that solved this issue. No idea what effectively happened or why restoring back would not solve it. Only other thing I did...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

FIXED! Wow thanks for the update. This solved my 3 day old issue with slow AC speeds. Short story I was getting 175-270 Mbps downloads on iPhone 6 on AC. Last update (stock ASUS) made it around 150 or so. I decided to try the older 376_43_2 _Update 7 fork from John to see if I could get it...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

What does " only known stuff with MODEM using slow driver etc" mean exactly? Never saw any mention in changelog so curious.

Android Wifi Authentication Problem after update to RT-AC66U_3.0.0.4_378.50_beta2

Have you noticed any speed test issues on phone with this build? I flashed to Johns build 374.43_7 the other day and all of a sudden speedtests on iPhone went from 250-271 down to like 17 using speedtest app. I can get maybe 48 or so using SpeedSmart. I re-flashed to Merlins 376_49_5 same...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Sorry it was in the first post only, AC66R. See the edit just above. Seems that internal network is Ok and speedtest.net may be the issue. CFT is enabled. Appreciate the follow-up.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Thanks John will give it a shot! Just was wondering if maybe this was a known issue with this build with a known solution. [Edit] Took a look at that utility but that is only for PC's not for phones. However there is an app thats called WIFI Sweetspots that actively monitors speed as you...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Yes sorry that was selected with your firmware. I have reverted back to merlins and ASUS stock and the same issue. Posted those settings. Cant figure out why other connections seem fine just the AC seems to be bad. Also wondering if Ookla is having trouble in general since yesterday as most of...
