    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

Well this may be why you are having issues. Several times since "some years" a reset has been required. Pretty much always from a major build, 374 to 376 and 376 to 378 etc. Some other builds in between it was recommended to reset as well. Definitely try that if you haven't after flashing...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 beta 2 is now available

Very common on iDevices to have to "forget the network" and rejoin or reset network settings to correct weird wifi issues. Have seen that solve max 2mb download issue ( over a 500mb connection) as well. As soon as doing it gets a 30/30 again on 2.4 ghz band.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 beta 2 is now available

May want to try and forget the connection on that device. Then rejoin. That has been known to help these types of issues especially when there is a driver change with the router. Sounds like snake oil I know but it is documented to help sometimes. More info here

    Beamforming options missing? [AC66U, 378.54_2]

Johns fork or (Merlin 374.43) has it listed in the 5ghz area. Now whether is actually matters if its enabled or disabled I am not sure. I will say that this fork seems to have better wireless speeds and range than the newer 376 and 378 builds. Supposedly due to the power output changes mandated...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Couple questions/clarifications. First off this fork does seem to perform better on AC66 than the newer 376 and 378 builds so thanks for the continuous updates! So for the questions, on the tools>other settings it shows TCP Connections Limit default is 300,000 (as per ASUS marketing info...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

You said "hard reset", meaning a power off or have you cleared NVRAM? If not defaulted it after the firmware load I believe I would try that first. Perhaps Merlin will have further comments but a nvram clear/reset helps most times for instability especially if you never did it after the update...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

What device? There was a new wifi driver if I recall for some models. Wonder if that could be causing some issues?

    Wireless range troubles 378.53_0

For Apple devices they work well when you set the SSID's the same for both bands. Then they will switch to the one with the best connection/throughput/signal. (not just signal) They seem to prefer the 5ghz when closer/better signal but switch to 2.4 as needed (ie when u go upstairs) without...

Apple Remote App Won't Pair with iTunes (via WLAN w/ AP)

Wait over on MR forums you indicated that when you tried it with both devices connected to the main router it worked, yes? So the issue is when the devices are connected to separate routers (main and AP) correct? Which is what that Apple KB said may not work correctly. Sorry the KB didnt help...

Apple Remote App Won't Pair with iTunes (via WLAN w/ AP)

Hi Ourcore Welcome to SNB. Just had a thought, have you tried turning off firewalls just as a test? If you can ping your devices then perhaps the firewall is blocking the app. [Edit] Here is a KB from Apple support that may help. It also mentioned the firewall and tells what ports to allow (if...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.52 is available

Yeah that sorta indicates it DOES have beamforming but past threads (2013) indicate they would be adding it to the AC66 soon. Apparently they decided not to or its on and no setting to enable/disable. Maybe that wording is meant to make folks THINK it has it but technically it doesn't. "Any...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.52 is available

How are you testing? I noticed along the same time as the update a lot of speedtest.net locations were reporting slower than usual speeds as well. Selecting various servers seems to report the full speeds again but others are slow. So it appears that the issue may be with some of the...

    Wifi Issue on RT-AC66U

If you follow any Apple forums you will see a TON of wifi issues for both OS x and iOS. They keep releasing updates to "fix" these but some folks still have issues. I use iPhone 6 and AC66 on 5ghz and never an issue from iOS 8 through the most recent 8.3 but lots of folks do have problems. I...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.52 is available

Just curious but why would you need to reboot the router daily? I had old Dlinks that never rebooted for a year or more unless power went out. Current AC66 pretty much only gets rebooted when new firmware is released. (21 days or so from .51 to .52) and no issues at all.
