    2.5Gbe network without 2.5 router?

Yes, that is a typical usage scenario and will allow full speed if the devices on both ends can send/receive fast enough. But don't expect to see full 2.5 gbps speeds. Its pretty easy to saturate 1 gbps ethernet, but the best I've seen for sustained transfer speeds with large files is about...

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Hard to say without more info about the BE88U. Since your devices are all AX, there is no immediate value to wifi 7, but there is a possibility that the BE88U radios do a better job at AX than your AX88U. No one will know that until some testing is done. Consider going with an AX88U Pro...

Are the CPUs on the BE88 and AX88 Pro the same?

I don't know if its the same model CPU, but both are quad-core, and the BE88U clock speed is 2.6 GHz vs 2.0 GHz for the AX88U Pro.

    [ 3004.388.8 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Problem-free installation and initial use on my RT-AX86U Pro main/AP combo. I'll update if there are any subsequent issues.

DNSSEC DNS on RT-AX86U Pro causing some websites not to load properly

If the DNS provider does their own DNSSEC, what does DNSSEC at the router provide if the connection to the DNS provider is secure and cannot be spoofed? Not trying to argue. I just want to hear a sufficiently detailed explanation.

DNSSEC DNS on RT-AX86U Pro causing some websites not to load properly

I've got two networks, one served by Comcast and one served by Spectrum. Both networks have ASUS routers running 388.7 and using DNSSEC + DoT with quad9 along with the router set to force all DNS traffic to use the router settings. The Comcast business website fails to load properly for both...

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

My cabin has no cellular service, so I use the 2.4 GHz band to get the most walking range for my phones. I imagine this is the case for some other people in rural environments. I only have room for the ASUS upright form factor, so I went with the RT-AX86U pro. However, if I had known it...

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

Same thing for my two open-box GT-AX6000s from Amazon.

[Review] ASUS GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX88U Pro vs RT-AX86U Pro

Nice reviews, but as Tech9 noted, the results vary among the different reviews that were conducted. The one thing that seems to be consistent in terms of performance is that the AX86U Pro 2.4 GHz band does not do as well as the other routers at long range.

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34791

longfin_a0 appears to be a firmware for one of the radios. There are a few references over the last couple years of people seeing this update occur. Seems to be to v2.2.8 each time.

    [ 3006.102 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Seems likely its coming, but people's notion of "soon" often varies.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

There is no cell service at my cabin, so I put my portable devices on 2.4 GHz, and for this I've found that AX provides slightly better range than AC.

    Custom names list

Well, changing to the correct syntax didn't do much. Upon reboot, the leading "<" was again removed, and all the entries now end with five ">" again, except the last which still has four.

    Custom names list

I was also surprised to see the last couple entries ending with ">>". Before I started adding items on the command line, I rebooted a few times, and that had no effect. No scripts for the client list, and overall pretty minimal installation. This router is serving as an AP.

Here is my current file after adding a few entries via the command line...

    Custom names list

Interesting to see 9 fields. I'm only seeing 4 fields (388.7 on an RT-AX86U Pro), and my file is missing the leading "<" as maghuro described. It seems to be working, but perhaps I'll try cleaning up the syntax to see if that does anything.

    Custom names list

Thanks. Some of mine in /jffs/nvram/custom_clientlist end with 5 ">" and some with 2 ">". None end with 4 ">".

    Custom names list

Somewhat unrelated, but is there a reason for quantity of closing ">" symbols?

    GT-AX6000 Discontinued?

No way. It has to be discontinued.
