    Tutorial How to use VLANs on your non-pro Asus router with 386 or 388 code (no scripting required)

    Yes, 501 and 502 on the AP can be linked to 501 and 502 on the main router to create a true isolated guest network.

    Connecting two ASUS routers via VPN

    This is what I've done. Its doable, but my experience is that its not a simple as creating a simple VPN client-server setup if you want bi-direction access. I had to generate a signed client certs.

    I have an AX86U Pro & the log keeps repeating MDIO error

    Thanks for responding. This AX86U Pro was running 388.6 and now is running 388.7. Its operating in AP mode. It does have scripting enabled, and there is one script running to connect Guest Network #1 VLAN on the AP to the main router Guest Network #1 VLAN so that I have a fully isolated guest...

    I have an AX86U Pro & the log keeps repeating MDIO error

    I'm getting the same thing on one of my AX86U Pros after a reboot, perhaps in combo with a firmware update. Massively floods the log. Rebooting again seems to be able to make it stop.

    Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

    If anyone is curious, the commits show a few small changes from beta1 to beta2, and no change from beta2 to release.

    RT-AX88U Pro and RT-AX86U Pro vs Dual GT-AXE11000 Setup

    I think a key value of using the same device for the main and mesh is that you'll be assured that the same (i.e., matched) firmware will always be available for both devices.

    Question about (normal) guest network with ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000

    ok, I misunderstood your original post. I thought you were using a GT-AX6000 as the main router. Anyhow, during the few months when I ran my GT-AX6000 routers in main/mesh mode, guest network functioned properly, and that was on the early beta of 3.0.0.6. People who are trying the current...

    LAN > DHCP List - Manually Assigned Name + Icon DONT SAVE

    For my RT-AC86U routers, I found that after a period of several days of router operation, changes made to custom names and icons do not stick. Immediately after a reboot, any changes I make will stick. If these will not stick for you even immediately after a reboot, then I suggest a factory...

    Question about (normal) guest network with ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000

    What firmware are you running on the main and AP routers?

    Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 beta is now available

    Its fine to install this beta followed by a factory reset. Then configure the router. When the final version of 388.7 is released, ok to flash it without a subsequent reset. I have several RT-AC86U routers where I never once applied a factory reset through 5 years of Merlin FWs.

    RT-AX86U Pro firmware - will it get 3.0.0.6?

    I think that mesh nodes will also need to be running 3.0.0.6 to get VLAN capability with AI Mesh. One thought is that it might be worth asking ASUS if there is a beta available like what was done with the GT-AX6000.

    Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 beta is now available

    Just now went from 388.7_alpha2 to 388.7_beta1 without any issues on my GT-AX6000 main/AP combo. There were no issues with alpha2, so I don't expect anything with beta1, but will report back if otherwise.

    Network map script

    Unfortunately using AP mode doesn't result in the main router client list page reliably displaying what's wirelessly connected to an AP, although it seems to work a little more reliably on 388 than on 386.

    RT-AX86U Pro firmware - will it get 3.0.0.6?

    My main/AP combo has been working fine since I got it installed a few weeks ago. Zero issues, but not obviously better than the AC86U main/AP combo it replaced. The primary reason for switching was to stay current on firmware, and I believe that ASUSWRT will be fully supported on the AX86U...

    RT-AX86U Pro firmware - will it get 3.0.0.6?

    ASUS really needs to work on having consistent information.

    YazDHCP YazDHCP - feature expansion of DHCP assignments (increasing limit on the number of DHCP reservations)

    I have a few questions about YazDHCP: How does YazDHCP handle IP addresses for Guest Network 1 that uses a VLAN with 192.168.101.xxx addresses? Custom IP address assignments for this VLAN aren't possible with stock ASUS or stock Merlin. Has anyone tried running YazDHCP on an ASUS router...

    RT-AX86U Pro firmware - will it get 3.0.0.6?

    Interesting that ASUS only listed these two routers. Presumably its because these are the only two routers where 3.0.0.6 out of beta.

    RT-AC86U -> RT-AX86U Pro Review

    Of course it depends on the previous router and number of active clients.

    RT-AC86U -> RT-AX86U Pro Review

    The AX86U Pro may provide faster or more snappy internet simply because it has a much faster processor. The 2.5 gbps connection to the 10 gbps internet may not provide any obvious benefit.
