    ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000

yep, it will take a good decade or so for Asus to release to mature firmware for this.

Broadcom wifi 6 router v Qualcomm wifi 6 router

Stability-wise, no issues with the AX89X running the latest stock firmware 3.0.0.4_384_82800. I think where people were getting random reboots, this was ocurring on older firmware. Oh and I hated the fan running all the time on the AX89X despite being in a relatively cool room. There is an...

Broadcom wifi 6 router v Qualcomm wifi 6 router

Yeah i thought QCA chipsets would be better so slightly surprised. But then again, I know a lot of folks rate the AX88U very highly for wifi coverage....yet this uses the same BCM chipset as the RAX200 though I'm well aware the AX88U is dual band whilst the RAX200 is tri-band. But anyway, like...

Broadcom wifi 6 router v Qualcomm wifi 6 router

Been very happy with my Netgear RAX200 router (Broadcom based) except for the fact that I can't run a OpenVPN client on it. So bought an Asus RT-AX89X (QCA based) and had high hopes for it. Whilst I had no issues running OpenVPN, wifi coverage (both on wifi 5 & 6) on it was worse than the AX200...

    RT-AX89X

Yep certain combinations of client/router chipsets can also cause issues. FWIW none of our iPhones ( X & XS) had any issues with the AX89X - its just that wifi speeds using the RAX200 were better overall, ie affecting all clients.

    RT-AX89X

The difference in wifi performance will be down to the different wifi radios/chipsets used in the AX89X. It uses QCA radios whereas the RAX200 uses Broadcom radios. Anyway I've gone back to using the RAX200, as I'm not willing to accept worse wifi performance in exchange for using the OpenVPN...

    RT-AX89X

Just received my RT-AX89X. On first impressions, the wifi range isn't quite as good as my Netgear RAX200.

    RT-AX89X

@Synomenon How are you finding the wifi range on the AX89 versus the RAX200? I also have the RAX200 and have the AX89X on order from Amazon, primarily to get OpenVPN working. Cheers

    RT-AX89X

To those using OpenVPN on the RT-AX89X, what sort of OpenVPN speeds are you getting? Cheers

    Linksys MR9600 Wifi6 Introduction

Any particular reason why the MR9600 only supports 160mhz channel width on the DFS channels?

    Wireless adapter to pc

Yeah the Asus PCE-AC88 should work very nicely - external PCI cards normally work better than built-in cards

    WiFi 6 Mesh questions

And once wifi 6e is released, perhaps the OP should would for wifi 7? Actually on second thoughts, I think it would be better if the OP waits for wifi 7e or wifi 8. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. Technology is always changing, if you wait for the next iteration, that also becomes old technology...

    WiFi 6 Mesh questions

I'm afraid just because its made by Ubiquiti, costs $400 and looks nice, that's no guarantee that it will perform well. I tried out the Alien and it was utter garbage for the money - it didn't even allow you to change the wifi channels!! Wifi 5 performance was no better than a mid-range wifi 5...

Compatible wireless-ax network card for Lenovo T480?

Thanks for the recommendation. Based on your feedback, I bought the same wifi 6 card for my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th gen, which originally had the 8260 wifi 5 card. It was very easy to swap the card out and the new card worked immediately using the existing Intel drivers. The card is paired with...

which netgear extender works best with RAX200

The EAX80 is wifi 6 whilst the EX7700 is wifi 5 only. Since the RAX200 is a wifi 6 router, it made more sense to pair this up with a wifi 6 extender. Like i said , its works superbly :)

    UK Plusnet Fibre modem advice

Yeah, although not guaranteed, matching modem chipset to FTTC cabinet often gives you the highest sync rate. Have a look here to see whether your FTTC cabinet is Huawei or ECI: https://kitz.co.uk/adsl/fttc-cabinets.htm If Huawei then go for the TP Link W9970, if ECI then go for the Draytek...

    UK Plusnet Fibre modem advice

@AndreiV The TP Link W9970 uses the same BCM DSL chipset as the Zyxel VMG3925 and is far cheaper. Doesn't make sense to pay to more for the Zyxel on ebay, even less so if its second hand without a warranty. OP, Go for the TP Link W9970, it uses a rock solid BCM chipset and should be a great...

[EAX-80] New official firmware is BETA ?!? (58)

Same for the RAX200 router. The latest firmware on the Netgear support pages is shown as '1.0.2.92 Hot fix' but its a beta version. I'm gonna wait until the final 1.0.2.92 version is released before updating from 1.0.2.88.
