Wireless router advice - which to buy

I definitely wouldn't recommend the Asus GT-AX11000 despite the same RAX200 radios being used in the Asus. Even though Asus tend to release firmware updates every 2 mins for the AX11000 its still buggy as hell - a quick glance on the Asus sub-forums proves this is the case. If the OP wants a...

The quest for 500/500 over wifi

Yes. Get a wifi 6 router and pair that up with a wifi 6 PCIe card.

    Wi-Fi calling issues

Yeah the OP could have meant wifi speeds of 170 Mbps rather than ping. But regardless, I'm still fairly sure Virgin Media is the cause as high packet loss usually accompanies high ping times on Virgin Media connections in severely congested areas. I suggest the OP creates a broadband quality...

    Wi-Fi calling issues

OP, your problem is Virgin Media - as latency of 170 ms shows. If your area is heavily subscribed with Virgin then pings shoot through the roof which means gaming and VOIP suffer severely. Just to rule out router issues, I would try a different router first. If no improvement then I'm afraid...

Wireless router advice - which to buy

Sorry can't say anything about the RAX120 as I haven't tried it. But the RAX200 has 3 radios (1 x 2.4ghz + 2 x 5ghx) whilst the RAX120 is dual band only, I've found that extra radio on the RAX200 a Godsend when there's tonnes of clients all competing for bandwidth.

Wireless router advice - which to buy

OP, I have the Netgear RAX200 and its a significant upgrade from the RT-AC5300 wrt wifi coverage - i also had the same Asus before the RAX200. The RAX200 had some early bugs but the latest firmware is rock solid and its a brilliant router all around. When we have lots of family & friends around...

    AX8 vs. AX12 (rax120 and 200) Range?

I'm also in a fairly new home with metal studs and the RAX200 works a treat. It easily provides full wifi coverage in my 4 bedroom, detached, 2 storey home. I'm on BT's 330/50 FTTP service btw.

    Netgear RAX200

Netgear release updated firmware v1.0.2.88_1.0.50 a week or so ago. Been using it for a few days and its been stable. Have activated (via app) Netgear Armor and gone for the 30 days free trial before potentially taking out a subscription for $45 per year. Very happy with my RAX200, rock solid...

    OpenVPN speeds on Asus GT-AX11000

Hi, To those of you using the GT-AX11000 as an OpenVPN client what sort of speeds are you getting? ISP Speed? OpenVPN speed? VPN provider used? (eg PIA, Express VPN etc) Thanks!

    RT-AX89X

Thanks, reason for choosing the AX89 over the AX88 is the faster CPU, Qualcomm 2.2ghz quadcore v Broadcomm 1.8ghz quadcore. Of course the BCM 1.8ghz processor is still very powerful but when you're spending $100s on a new router you might as well pay slightly more and get the more powerful one...

    RT-AX89X

Thanks. I'm on a 330/50 Mbps connection so hopefully I should get close to isp speeds assuming there's no slowdowns on the VPN server - I'll be using OpenVPN's own VPN service, Private Tunnel. Btw anyone know where to buy the AX89X in US/UK/EU? It seems to be out of stock everywhere, and no I...

    RT-AX89X

Thinking of buying the RT-AX89X to replace my Netgear RAX200, purely to get OpenVPN running. Anyone know what kind of speeds I can expect over OpenVPN protocol on this beast? Cheers

New Build House. FTP in cupboard + Metal stud walls Best setup?

OP, I'm in a slightly bigger house than yours but also a new build with metal stud walls. With Openreach FTTP. A single router (Netgear RAX200) easily provides full wifi coverage for me. A typical new build home in UK is usually very wifi friendly. My suggestion would be to buy something like...

    GT-AX11000 vs RT-AX89X

Being a non US citizen why can’t you buy a Netgear router?

Awful performance with AX200, great performance with macbook pro

Maybe the issue is with your router? I also have the AX200 fitted in my desktop and paired with a Netgear RAX200, I’m getting the full 2400 Mbps link rate - router and pc are on different floors. Real world throughput is between 1000-1500 Mbps.

Asus RT-86U or Asus ROG GT-5300

There's been many reports of the 2.4ghz radio going kaput on the 86U. Of course Asus will replace the router if under warranty but how do you know you won't get another dud? GT-AC5300 is far better especially since it has 3 radios so perfect if you have tonnes of wifi clients. Granted, there's...

WiFi 6 was not worth it for me ~ Journey of WiFi 6 AiMesh back to WiFi 5 UniFi ~

Since when does an RT-AC86U in bridge mode have the form factor of a desktop PCI card? As for the RT-AC86U being cheaper than the RAX200, thats's hardly a surprise since a) The RAX200 is a wifi 6 router b) The RAX200 has 3 radios, not 2 like the RT-AC86U You're comparing apples with oranges.....

WiFi 6 was not worth it for me ~ Journey of WiFi 6 AiMesh back to WiFi 5 UniFi ~

OP, I suggest you try testing any client with an Intel AX200 chipset (wifi 6 2x2). I have such a PCI card fitted in my desktop PC (TP Link TX3000E) - PC is upstairs and router (Netgear RAX200) is downstairs. The TP Link wifi 6 card connects at the full 2.4 Gbps to the router with real world...

    Netgear RAX200

If it was me I would just submit a RMA and get a replacement. But on the other hand if its not affecting router performance then you may just want to forget about it.

    Netgear RAX200

@Synomenon With my RAX200, once I flip the wings into the vertical position, I need to push them down slightly into lock position until i hear a faint click. They are still flimsy but at least they stay in place. To fold them, I reverse the process. If you're not seeing the same, I suggest...
