    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

I bought mine from ebay seller nonastar555 for $49.99 but I've noticed the seller has jacked up the price to $102 now. Cheaper to buy it from amazon.com for around $80 at present.

Definitely. Though the K3 can be purchased for less than $50 on ebay - I bought mine for $40.

    Linksys EA9500 V2 Specs

Just an update, amazon.com now appears to be selling V2's of the EA9500 only and they ship worldwide - I ordered one for delivery to UK (for a family member) and got a V2 :) IMHO its still the best ac class router out there for speeds and stability.

Ok an update: have re-plugged the K3 in and changed to wifi channel width to 40MHz and 80 MHz on the 2.4 and 5ghz bands respectively. This has improved the wifi speeds, almost on a par with the EA9500v2. I will keep using the K3 as its far more living room friendly = wife friendly :) Couple...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Received the K3 (b1 hardware) a few days ago and have been using it on my 330 Mbps FTTH line. My impressions so far: Positives: - Great build quality, looks great, not too big. Probably the best looking router out there. - Firmware is pretty slick. Everything works as it should, making changes...

Replacing SkyQ hub with R7800 voxel firmware

Correct, you need a router which supports DHCP option 60/61 to use on Sky vdsl (fttc). Most standalone routers don't support this feature on stock firmware, you would need to install DD-WRT or Merlin's firmware in order to use the router with Sky. However, the easy solution is just to buy a...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Yeah at that price it was too good to turn down. I ended up paying £80 in total (incl shipping & taxes) to UK, expecting to receive it this week. Will post my feedback once its up and running :)

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

Yeah those settings should be ok. I'm guessing ch 157 isn't available due to your location, so choose the highest you can, ie 140.

Thoughts on the linksys ea9500 v2?

Its the because the router algorithms used for 5ghz band steering aren't always perfect and quite often you end up with one 5ghz channel overloaded with clients whilst the other is almost free, ie lopsided scenario. So IMHO its better to switch off auto band steering so that you have full...

Thanks! Sorry, another question: i believe the LCD display on the K3 displays your actual download/upload speeds, how often does the router update this? This is actually quite a cool feature, I wish more routers offered this.

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Thanks for the heads up. I've also heard great things about the K3, some Chinese users are even saying that its better than the Netgear R7800 for wifi range/coverage….wow! Anyway I've managed to order one for $50 on eBay, its a good price though I certainly wouldn't pay >$100 for it. Btw did it...

    Asus ac86u vs Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S

+1 For great wifi you can't beat the R7800 :)

    Asus ac86u vs Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S

I guess you've never heard of the Asus PCE-AC88 adaptor then?

    Asus ac86u vs Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S

One of the main reasons the AC86U is popular on SNB is due to fact that its arguably the fastest consumer router out there for OpenVPN. However if you don't have any plans to use VPN then I would go for the R7800.

    Netgear X10 $329.99

On newegg it also asks for an email address associated with the coupon code?

    Asus ac86u vs Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S

I would go for the R7800 instead of the AC86U as the Wi-Fi on the Netgear is better. The R7800’s price regularly drops to around £130 on Amazon UK which is a great price for arguably the best router for Wi-Fi out there.

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Or perhaps the most obvious solution is to buy a non-Asus router which is stable and stays connected for weeks/months/years without requiring a reboot? Far more sensible/practical than your "rustic solution" :)

    BT Smarthub Replacement

As I've said before, the 130 should already be in bridge default mode (with DHCP off) in its factory default setting. So after you've done a hard reset on the 130, don't change ANYTHING on it and simply fire up the Asus and connect via PPPoE. It really is that simple :)

Home Network - Wifi Adapter Inquiry

Yes of course a USB adapter is portable. However for a desktop pc, pci is definitely the way to go as usb adaptors don’t perform as well as pci models and let’s not find forget the only high end Wi-fi adaptor (4x4 stream) is a pci version. The Asus PCI-AC88 comes with an external antenna mount...

    BT Smarthub Replacement

It seems the default settings on your 130 have been changed as its default ip address is 192.168.2.1, not 196.x.x.x. I suggest you do a factory reset on the 130 to bring it back to default bridge mode - once done DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ON THE 130 (sorry for the caps). I suggest you also do a...
