Skynet SkyNet, What's going on? should I be concerned?

That DNS lookup pattern is interesting. I don't have IoT devices (by design) so my block lists are significantly shorter. And when we have outbound blocks I tend to investigate. Make sense that with a different approach you're seeing very different results!

Hope you realize I was just making a joke with the Adguard comment :)

Skynet SkyNet, What's going on? should I be concerned?

You guys have a ton of outgoing blocks, normally (with my setup) I'd be a tiny bit concerned. Realize that with the number of ranges banned, you'll kill a lot of requests. Still, outbound blocks > inbound? Yikes :) @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow maybe try something like adguardhome to cut down on...

    Problem with firewall enabled

Tracert works fine for me in 388.2_2 with Skynet enabled. Not sure what the particular issue is for your system, but would suggest you turn up the logging on the router to see dropped packets, then re-test and check the logs. Unless the default config was changed, tracert should work.

Auto Firmware Upgrade made official - a new Note in Asus FAQ

There is never going to be a satisfactory 'one-size-fits-all' solution. The factors are well know: The vast majority of consumers would be best served by auto-updates The vast majority of truly tech savvy customers (or IT professionals, whatever that means today) want a level of control, the...

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

OK, straightforward fix. No more looping! Thanks @Viktor Jaep , @Stephen Harrington , @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow ! For anyone who runs into this and is unfamiliar with whitelisting here's what I did: Adguard home web interface | Filters | Custom filtering rules Add: @@||ipv4.icanhazip.com^ Hit...

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

The fact that it's adguard makes sense. My setup is double natted. Internet -- AX58 (192.168.50.x resolves using Canadian Shield) -- AX68 (192.168.51.x resolves using DNS on 50.x network) That's why vpnmon-r2 on the AX68 fails. I'll put an allow rule on the Adguard home systems that run on...

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

Yeah, for me it definitely started a few days ago on 388.1 Maybe it's a timing issue and is related to the infrastructure that Nord & Surfshark use (they are using some of the same datacenters I believe). But again, pinging from the VPN works when it's up so ... I'm stumped.

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

Just to clarify, it was doing it on 388.1 running vpnmon-r2 2.41 as well. I upgraded to see if it would fix it. It didn't :) I had 2 routers (AX58 & AX68) both on 388.1 and vpnmon-r2 2.41 when it started with the AX68.

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

Having continual issues on one install where it loops the resets. To make sure it's not due to out of date software, I just did a full update on the AX68 that's having the issue (Router, Entware and VPNMON-R2) so all are current, router at 388.2 and vpnmon-r2 at 2.52. VPN provider is...

    DNS fallback if Pihole fails

The other thing to note, use Raspberry's excellent SD cloning feature if you do you an SD drive. Have a spare ready to go in no time if you do lose one. I've had the same 2 SD cards for 2 years, no issues. But I use a proper power supply on the 4B and that's supposed to make a difference as...

    DNS fallback if Pihole fails

If you really, truly, need it, then take 2. That's always been good advice. I run an adblocker on a Rpi 4b and another one on a VM on my desktop / media server that's always on (using Adguard home now, but was the same when I was using pihole). Other option is to run Adguard home right on the...

Can't open Asus RT-AX88U Web UI when connected via VPN

You already have your answer. Both networks have the same IP range. Change one of them to a different network like 192.168.3.x/24

@DJLaz have you considered switching to asus DDNS for a while to see if the works more consistently?

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

If it was only one router, I'd think it's something goofy with the router, but I have both an AX58 and an AX68, configured identically for VPNMON. And they _both_ did the same thing. It's definitely goofy :) I'll keep an eye on it and post up. And keep looking in the logs to see if there is...

    VPNMON VPNMON-R2 v2.52 -Mar 27, 2023- Monitor your VPN connection's Health (Thread locked/closed)

So, this is nuts, they both reset over night, after 18 days of not doing it. Maybe it knew you were investigating? :D First screenshot attached Second screenshot shows that hitting "R" resets the connection (you can see the changed VPN IP). Logs don't reveal much, basically nothing between...
