2x AC86U main/AP combo. Have not reset these routers since purchase several years ago.

alpha1 installed yesterday afternoon. Everything working well.

    Starting to despair

Yep, that's what I was assuming would be understood. I figured that it might be worth some effort to find out if any of the OPs nearest neighbors were experiencing similar issues. Might help to track down the source of the noise.

    Starting to despair

Still seems to me that there is some significant interference in this frequency band from a non-wifi device. Do you live in an apartment/condo/townhome complex? If yes, it might be worth asking your neighbors if they are experiencing similar issues. If not in a high density housing location...

Seems a lot like unknown or unidentified interference in the 2.4 GHz band. One curiosity - does your wifi network name has stars in it? Or is that something the wifi tracking software is adding?

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

3.0.0.6 continues to work fine for me.

Honest review of Asus WRT 5.0 (3.0.0.6 Branch)

I'll take this as an ASUS router endorsement, or at least that ASUS sucks less than TP-Link.

Honest review of Asus WRT 5.0 (3.0.0.6 Branch)

I think most people have a generally trouble-free experience without doing a reset. In the full 5 years that I used an RT-AC86U main/AP combo at my home, I've not reset either one. I've installed many Merlin alpha and betas on both, and everything has consistently functioned as expected. No...

Honest review of Asus WRT 5.0 (3.0.0.6 Branch)

From a practical perspective, stick with 3.0.0.4 for now unless you need an isolated guest network on an AP (and don't know how to make it work on 3.0.0.4 with the available script), or you feel that 3.0.0.4 is unstable or has slow network performance.

Honest review of Asus WRT 5.0 (3.0.0.6 Branch)

I'll add a few comments: I'm seeing the same router webgui flakiness as the others mentioned. The router doesn't crash, but I get kicked out of the session, and I have to login again. Guest VLAN is working fine for me. I have no need for multiple VLANs, so I haven't tried to create more than...

3 RT-AC68U's: AP Mode or AiMesh?

Good point. I had forgotten about this because the script is pretty easy to implement and works well.

3 RT-AC68U's: AP Mode or AiMesh?

I've been using two routers in main/AP mode for many years now at two locations. The setup is 100% trouble-free in both locations, and everything just works. And I don't think you'll see anyone posting in this forum about issues with using AP mode. The only downside, and its a very minor...

    [ 388.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I'm hoping to avoid a reset as well. When I purchased my first GT-AX6000 in the January timeframe, I was able to bounce between official 388, Merlin 388, and official 9.0.0.6 beta without having to reset. I'm currently on 3.0.0.6.102_21514. I suppose I'll try 388.4_a1 on my AP first to see...

    [ 388.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

That's a bit scary. Glad I didn't immediately jump on the train and glad you were able to downgrade. Any logs?

On the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try disabling: - Roaming Assist - Multi-User MIMO

Interesting variability in the AX88U Pro 2.4 GHz signal strength. Can you post the "Wireless/Professional" settings for the 2.4 GHz band?

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

My GT-AX6000 AP is showing the current date and time, and the live clock on the system log page shows the same time as my primary GT-AX6000. I wonder why your's isn't working. Perhaps tied to DNS settings? For my GT-AX6000 in AP mode, I have DNS server #1 set to the LAN IP address of my main...

    Starting to despair

I'm surprised that you aren't curious to know. Anyhow, no way for me to figure it out because even if you had told me the model number and that was an AX router, I have no way to know if AX was enabled. I guess you could consider checking as doing a favor for those who helped you out.

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

No NTP issue for me either. Time exactly matches the time of my main router which is also a GT-AX6000. How are you determining that NTP is not working? Is time staying at the 2018 date?

I'm still curious about whether the Fritzbox is set to operate in AX mode on the 2.4 GHz band.
