    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

How are they crippled? You're saying the AX86S is crippled and nearly obsolete, but the AX68U isn't?

    RT-N66R stopped working, lights flashing

This router is only used to plug a VoIP phone into, which connects wirelessly (set to media bridge) to an RT-AC86U. When the router was turned on today (it's turned off nightly), the VoIP phone had no signal, and the router gives a series of blinking lights: All the lights flash on for a...

    Help with structured media panel

Thanks. Strange that the ATT installer unhooked the grounds from Xfinity, but people do odd things. Any idea why there are two grounds? Or two coax cables (and a third possible coax - the black one), from that box to the house? You mention tracing the blue cables. Why do you think I need those...

    Help with structured media panel

As mentioned, I won't be using fiber and would like to remove anything related to it.

    Help with structured media panel

FYI I haven't moved into the house yet, so am having to do things and learn more in bits as I go over there, so I'm sorry about not having more details initially. I finally had a chance to look inside the Xfinity box outside. It has black coax cables coming in from the ground, connected to two...

    Help with structured media panel

You gave a lot of information (and I appreciate it), but no. At least not addressing all (and not expecting it). And since many had to be guesses, I thought me adding more information would help. Please disregard me tagging you in my reply and thanks again.

    Help with structured media panel

@drinkingbird @CaptainSTX Thanks a LOT for taking time to read through and respond. After reading the replies, looks like there are more (and complex) possibilities of wiring scenarios than I thought. I *have* read through them a couple times, but am trying to make sense of it all. I removed...

    Should I get tri-band routers?

Unfortunately their cable enters at either end of the home, so I don't have the option of having the router in the middle.

    Should I get tri-band routers?

Thank you. When I posted, I had no idea what speed they had and it took some work to get that info from my mom.

    Should I get tri-band routers?

Sorry, I should have mentioned the RT-N66 wouldn't be used.

    Should I get tri-band routers?

Sorry for the delay. They only have a 75 mbps plan.

    Help with structured media panel

I just bought a preowned house that has a structured media panel, which I've never had, and am trying to figure out what all the previous owners have going on with it and what I need to do to get it right. Seems the previous owner had AT&T fiber, and I plan to carry over my Xfinity cable...

    Should I get tri-band routers?

My parents have a ranch style home with an RT-N66U at one end, and a TP Link TL-WA855RE (300mbs) extender in the middle. I'm trying to figure out the best way to improve performance. I have an extra Asus RT-AC68U. Should I buy another AC86 and connect as mesh? I also have a Google Wi-Fi 3-piece...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 50E8

Yes, client names. Under "clients", when you click "view list", the names under client names is often cryptic, so it's helpful to rename them once you figure out what they are.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 50E8

    Thanks. That's too bad. :(

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 50E8

Does this version not allow renaming the client names? Not completely sure if that's what the notes are saying. I'm on Merlin 380.57 now and can, and that feature is fairly important to me.

Can't get IP phone to work with repeater router

The phone is now working via the N66 though, so thanks everyone for the help! After I selected media bridge, it got stuck on the message "the RTN66 is connecting to the AC86" (something like that), and the progress meter finishes but the message/window never goes away. The same thing happened...

Can't get IP phone to work with repeater router

The N66 is wirelessly connected to the AC86. The IP phone is wired to the N66. Not sure which you meant. Do I need to use media bridge? Thanks for the tip on the utility.

Can't get IP phone to work with repeater router

I got an RT-AC86U to replace a RT-N66W, so the AC86 is now the main router and I wanted to use the N66 just to plug an IP phone (Yealink SIP-T425) in so I could move it and the desk to a different spot. Nothing else would be connected to the N66. I logged into the N66 and changed it's mode to...
